I had accidentally purchased the wrong item (my fault) from a seller. Upon realizing it was the wrong product however, I tried cancelling the order through eBay before my payment was even processed, but it was too late apparently so I was directed to contact the seller. When I tried contacting the seller about cancelling it before my payment got processed and the item got shipped, i never heard anything back. Fast forward about 2 weeks, today, and I just got the item in the mail, yet I have not heard anything from the seller. I have screenshots of all of screens I was at trying to return it and the messages I sent to the seller, is there anything I can do or am I just out of luck? Another slight issue is that when I bought it I did it under a guest account because I don’t really use eBay like that, so it isn’t tied to this account making it so I can’t start a return request, but I have screenshots of the purchase and emails I got confirming it as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh, I see what you're saying - within the written item description. That's completely conflicting. Within 2 sentences they say no returns, then say buyer pays for returns. 🙄
All that matters is what you see way up at the top of the page below the item's price and shipping, where it says 30 days buyer pays returns. That seller clearly has some listing cleanup to do.
At least now you have the process so you can file your return. If you run into other questions along the way let us know, but you should be good from here. 👍

Sellers are not required to cancel when a buyer requests it.
This is the process for returning an item purchased as a guest:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/paying-items/buying-guest?id=4035#section4
The appropriate reason to choose when requesting the return is "changed mind". If the seller has a no returns policy, they are within their rights to decline your request. Look at the listing and it will show you the seller's returns policy.

eBay requires sellers to ship fast. Unlike stores like wally mart, returns are not as easy here. Since you did say it was your fault, you can always resell it your self on eBay.
Next time, be sure you want to buy it before you click. eBay is very light on undo buttons.

"screenshots of the purchase and emails I got confirming as well"...are meaningless.
Mistakes do happen....lessons are learned.
Can always sell it to a neighbor or friend or employee or whoever.

Well I get that cancelling isn’t an obligation they have, but it would make sense that a store that accepts returns would also be willing to cancel a wrong order, no? But now I’m facing a different issue. Their page 100% said they accepted returns when I made the purchase which is why I wasn’t stressing too much if it didn’t get canceled, but after I sent them another message today to see what I could try doing with that, their page went down for about 2 hours, and when it came back up it said in the same spot that they now don’t accept returns. I didnt know they could do that so I didn’t screenshot the part on their page.

Respectfully, please don’t talk to me like you’re my dad. Please go back to the line you quoted from me and you’ll see I included the info about screenshots because it was under a guest account and I needed to prove it was me that actually made the purchase, that’s it.

You can go through your purchase email to start a return if the listings shows the seller accepts refunds.

So the small issue with that is that their page did say they accept returns at the time of the purchase, but today when I was trying to get a request submitted, i kid you not, their page went down while I was on it for about 2 hours, and when it came back up, the same spot that said they accept returns, now says they don’t accept returns, and I have no way of actually proving that. I just don’t know where that leaves me. Reselling was my initial plan and honestly im not upset about having to resell the product, it’s more so I felt like I handled it to the best of my abilities trying to figure stuff out, just to get no assistance or response from either eBay or the seller in over a week.

What's the item # @jsvd3483 ? We can check to see if there were revisions and when.
The return policy that applies to your order is the one that was on the listing when you made the purchase, not what's showing today.
Did you follow the return process on the page I linked in my first post above? Do that if you haven't yet.

404833113362 Is the item number, and if I’m not mistaken it does say on the order returns are accepted. And I am working on that portion right now that you sent

^^^ This isn't an issue. What you see on YOUR order is the Return policy the seller was using when you purchased.

That listing shows 30 day buyer pays return shipping policy. I don't know where you're seeing no returns.

It’s on their home page. I didn’t know how to look at orders through eBay, so when I looked it up I see it now on the order, but when I go to the sellers page it says absolutely no returns, not for that product specifically just in general. Obviously I would hope that they would still honor my return because of the policy that was in place at the time of the purchase, but I can’t even get into contact with them

I appreciate all the help, looks like I got the process started and just have to get it boxed up and shipped out. Thank you again.
