Problem with seller on which company to use for return

Hi Everyone,

So I bought an iPhone (New and sealed) from a seller which have very good feedback.

When I received the phone in Saudi Arabia I noticed that the box is very different that the Apple deliver.

I Claim a case with eBay and requested me to return the item on seller case.

Now I have one issue that the seller want me to return the item using local post since it is cheap

but my post office refuse to ship any thing to china that have Lithium Battery built-in and they mention this in their website as well as with PDF document but unfortunately eBay want me to provide an official document with a stamp from my post office which I will never be able to do so

and the seller is taking advantage of this

Please help I am stuck here.

It returns to the address it came from...

Replying to the seller will delay the return.

Stop replying to the seller.

Open claim not as described...get a return label from seller and return it.

@ealrwaily85

Is there any shipping service in your country that will ship the return?

Did you file a not as described claim?

If yes, seller pays return shipping.

You need to get a quote for the cost and upload to your case the amount. Seller needs to send you that money via Paypal or other service to purchase the label.

I have multiple companies that can ship to China but will cost around 200$

While Post Office will cost 80$ but not any thing with Lithium Battery built-in.

eBay want a proof of that with stamp (And that Something I cant get) but the Post Office website clearly is mentioning this (I can even share link here if possible for you guys to see)

If you claimed not as described. your seller must pay.

I'm not sure how the restriction will affect this case. Some other members should come along and we'll see what they say. This is not an issue I have ever dealt with before.

How did the item get shipped to you? With that restriction in place?

@wastingtime101    Any advice for this? Please..

What exactly did eBay customer service tell you @ealrwaily85 and how are you communicating with them? Can you copy/paste what they told you about shipping service?

I am using agent chat

eBay replies

"Here, the seller is the owner and sending you the money, they can also share the requirement what service they want to choose."

"I understand your point, however the seller is also running a business. If you are unable to ship the item with seller mentioned service, do get us written proof or share it with the seller directly."

OK, so go to your local post, ask them for a letter that says they cannot ship lithium batteries to China, then send a photo of that letter to the seller through eBay messages and if the seller doesn't cooperate contact eBay CS and ask them to look at the letter.

Then go back and tell them eBay is requiring a letter from them.

Bottom line: you want to do everything you can to work it out through eBay. You can file a payment dispute as a last resort, but that will close any option to work it out through eBay and if the dispute fails then you're stuck.

So see if you can get the letter from the carrier. If you can't, take a screenshot of your local post's website and send that to the seller in a message. Then ask customer service to review it. I don't know if that will yield results, but it's worth trying if your local post refuses to provide the letter. Plus it will give you one more way to show your funding source you tried to work it out with the seller if you end up being forced into filing a payment dispute.

@ealrwaily85

I am replying here instead of in the private message that you sent me since you are getting some good advice here already.

You said in the private message that the phone was not the same as shown in the listing.

If you are using the chat option you might just be talking to AI and not an agent.

The seller will not be able to provide a valid return label since they are located in another country.

I recommend contacting eBay customer service on SOCIAL MEDIA and let them know that the seller did NOT send money to your PayPal or other account to pay for return shipping as required by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

The seller then has the choice of sending you the money to pay return shipping to your PayPal account OR refunding you without a return of the item. Do NOT pay return shipping yourself and expect to be refunded for it after the item is returned even if an agent says to do this as eBay can not force a refund from the seller for more than the original sale price.

eBay may place the case on hold for 5 days if the seller chooses the PayPal option.

99% of the time a seller in another country will refund without a return of the item once you involve customer service.

Contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

If you do have to buy a return label with the funds the seller provided then you must enter the tracking number into the return request so you will have proof of the return.

Adding tracking to your return

Adding tracking details to your return helps protect against delays or issues in the refund process. If you use an eBay returns label, tracking details are automatically uploaded.

Here's how to add the tracking information to your return if you're using your own return shipping label:

Go to the return request in Purchase History.
Select the shipping carrier from the dropdown list. If you select Other, enter the carrier name.
Enter the tracking number.
Select Mark as sent.

The shipping method MUST have tracking confirmation available in China.  I am going to guess that ONLY the more expensive shipping methods provide this service.

You can share the link to the postal site with eBay on social media.
