Open a return request for "ordering by mistake". Seller said he'd accept it, but no shipping label.

So... here's the story.

I ordered a couple of CPUs from a seller and I kinda goofed when I did as such. So, I opened a return request and he said he'd accept my return. However, he didn't provide me a shipping label and instead gave me an alternate address through a message via the return request case. In fact, my screen STILL says that I can ask eBay to step in by a specified date, as he didn't officially accept nor decline the request itself.

Is this something that I should be concerned about?

Sorry, minor correction. I meant to say that the screen STILL says that I can ask eBay to step in by a specified date.

Unless the seller offers Free Returns you are responsible for the return shipping when you order something By Mistake.

Even on a remorse return @dosgeek622 the seller still needs to take action before you can proceed to get a return using your own label for refund/refund no return needed/return denied. Otherwise, ask eBay to step in after 3 business days.

And you must return to the address displayed on the returns page, the address which eBay is tracking for the return, and not to any other other address.

Another question. Given the reason I specified for a return and the current situation (meaning that he provided an alternate address as opposed to what's on the official return case), is it possible that a seller can provide you a return label (with a different address of course), but then make it so that you're responsible for the shipping costs?

I imagine the seller can provide a different return address. You are responsible for the return shipping unless the seller offered Free Returns.

That's another thing too. I've actually looked at the seller's policies and it DID say "Free 30 day returns" period and NEVER specified additional information with regards to that, meaning that if I'm not mistaken, the seller is indeed responsible for the return shipping.

@dosgeek622 I've read through this thread and you seem to be getting caught up with "what if's". This platform offers a MBG to all buyers. All you need to do is follow the procedures for a return, which will get you a refund. You only have one opportunity to open a return and you selected what is considered a remorse return reason. Because the seller offers free returns, yes they will have to accept your return and provide you with a return label. HOWEVER, because your return is now considered a remorse return, the seller is allowed to keep the original shipping amount, plus up to 50% if they deem what you returned to be different from what they purchased. So it can become complicated a tad.

What you have going for you is that the seller hasn't officially accepted your return, which they must do. So I suggest you stop messaging the seller and wait this out. Seller has 3 business days after you opened the return to accept it or then you can ask eBay to step in.

The following is from the MBG page:

Deciding the outcome when a seller doesn't fulfil their return policy
When eBay steps in on a "remorse" return request and the transaction meets our eligibility requirements, we will look for all of the following:

Evidence that the buyer and seller have each met their return requirements
Proof of return delivery, if the item was being returned

If we determine that the seller did not fulfil their return policy or did not meet their other return requirements, we will treat the case as if the item did not match the listing.

If we determine that the buyer did not meet their return requirements:

The buyer may not receive a full refund for the item and/or for original or return shipping costs, or
In the case of an exchange where the returned item was not delivered to the seller, the buyer may be charged for the additional item

Well unfortunately, I didn't keep my big mouth shut when I sent a message about the address as he straight up accepted my return, but didn't provide me a return label, when his policy clearly states that he's responsible for it, even my screen says so, and it STILL mentions the same address that eBay has provided and not the different one the seller's suggesting.
