Hi there. this is the second time in two months that an item/seller has said there are free returns and then once I receive the receipt it says... no returns! The first time the seller ghosted me and would not even respond. the item was the wrong size and I could not use it. I even offered to cover the return shipping and wait till they received before receiving refund...the box was not opened. Ebay did nothing , just said its up to the seller. I wrote an absolutely honest review (unemotional) of what had transpired which changed the sellers 100% review to 97%. i went back in when purchasing today's item only to find my review removed and seller back to 100%!
today I received another item, and again after checking the status of returns when I bought it , when I received again it said NO REFUNDS! this time though they actually sent the wrong item totally. I've just about given up on ebay. Seems a total lack of integrity all around!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

If you file formally ebay's Money Back Guarantee will kick in. It overrides ALL 'No Returns' policy! Find it on your Buying page. If within 30 days it should be right there. Follow the instructions. It's easier than you think. It's called Resolutions Center. You'll need the item number. Best of luck!

The eBay Money Back Guarantee for returns and refunds overrules any seller's "no returns" policy.
Simple.
Go to your "Purchase History" page.
Scroll down to the item which you wish to return.
On the right hand of the screen is a column of blue ovals -- click on "More actions."
Then click on "Return this item."
You'll be sent to the "Return item" screen, asking "Why are you returning this item?"
Click on "Received wrong item," and click on "Next."
You'll be sent to the "Return item" screen.
In the "Give us a little more info" box, describes what you had ordered, and what you had received.
Take a photo of the item you received, and download it to the space provided by eBay.
Click on "Confirm return."
Within a few days, the seller must provide you a pre-paid mailing label. If the seller refuses, you may escalate the case through eBay, and eBay will send you a return label at the seller's expense.
Yes, there are a lot of steps to take -- but this will get you a refund from sellers who state "no returns."

Literally you can open an item doesn't match description case and get a refund.
No returns means nothing if item was described wrong

ALL eBay buyers, as well as ALL eBay sellers need to get well acquainted with eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers, preferably BEFORE beginning to buy or sell here.
As others have informed you, that "No Returns" stance means nothing in the face of the MBG. Think about this: If I had sold you something, and you discovered, upon receipt, that it's defective or not as described, would it be right if I could just say "Aha, No Returns" and you'd be stuck with a defect or NAD item and I'd have your money? Learn to handle eBay issues using the tools eBay has provided for you.

Is that "eBay will send you a return label at the seller's expense" a new policy? Have had just a few NAD claims in the amount of time I've been here but, when one seller did not respond to my claim, eBay refunded my money from the seller's funds and told me to keep the item.

Thanks but i tried that for the first one and ebay came back saying it was the right of the seller to say no returns! That time it was actually my error in ordering the wrong size . this time they actually sent the wrong item! I'm just a bout done with ebay now. thanks for your response though .. appreciated.

Thanks so much.. i have done this and see if the seller even responds.. they haven't so far! yet have 100% approval... which I know now are all lies as the last one who stiffed me was 100% then I wrote an honest review of what took place and it went down to 97 and when I came back here now to purchase something new I see it is back to 100 and my review has been deleted! great integrity ebay. 😞

lets see.. i have tried to contact seller to resolve but no response .. so I have filed a return thing and we'll see.. but they have 100% approval band that will change when I write my review now. don't sellers understand the power of honesty, cooperation and communication??

Thanks Maryl .....for the first item i went through all the steps of MBG and spoke 2-3 times with ebay CS. they came back with... "its the sellers right to say no returns!" But added that most sellers prefer to keep customer happy so encouraged me to write a review to explain. I did so. NOTHING. on my return to ebay I noticed the review had been deleted and they're back to 100% approval which I realize now means SFA!
I have only started the process on this new one which was actually the WRONG item sent and we'll see where it goes... but no response from seller so far does not bode well for my review.. which will probably be deleted as well!!

Sorry, I misspoke -- that happens for sellers who accept returns, but who also dispute NADs.
For the few NAD returns which have been addressed to me, the return label was always paid for by me -- not the seller.
And, while my listings are labeled "No returns" (since I am not operating a lending library for high school and college students!), I have not disputed any of the few NAD cases which have come my way in over 10 years on eBay.
But I am aware of some sellers who have disputed NAD claims; and, after the buyer has escalated the case thru eBay, the buyer has been refunded, and permitted to keep the item, in circumstances where the seller has stated "No returns."
I think the key elements elements involved are a seller stating "No returns," plus a seller disputing the NAD -- that would trigger a buyer refund, with the buyer keeping the item.
BUT -- in the case of a seller who does NOT state "No returns," but disputes an NAD case -- that seems to be a different animal: If the buyer escalates thru eBay, eBay would refund the buyer, plus force a pre-paid label from the seller.
Is it any wonder that new buyers are confused with the eBay return policy?!?

Thank you for your response; however, I'm a little confused about the fact that return labels have been paid for by you, the buyer, not by the seller. How did that happen? Have had only had to open a few return cases, thank goodness, in the time I've been buying on eBay, but each time I opened an NAD case and the return label was paid for by the seller with the exception of just ONE case where the seller told me to keep the item and refunded me totally. Why did you, buyer, have to pay for the return label, unless the case you opened was NAD because you just didn't like it? Would be very interested in your answer.

Hard to understand the experience you've had regarding returning items. If/when you use NAD as your reason for wanting to return, and you open the NAD case within 30 days of receiving the item, there should be no reason why you would not be allowed to return the item and get a refund. Have never ever had to speak with a CS rep, just opened case, received return label, returned item, got a refund.
