Ebay is now automatically refunding a buyer’s payment for claim INAD (item not as described).
Sellers are left trying to get their products back and are out money AND their products!
Ebay used to send a return label to buyer (at sellers expense) but no longer. They just automatically return funds AND deny your appeal that you have NOT received the product back.
I feel like Ebay and the Buyer just scammed me!
What justice do we have to get our products returned??
please advise, this makes me feel targeted and violated.

If you didn't accept the return and or didn't respond to the return to send the return label then the buyer may have asked eBay to step in, when that happens eBay refunds the buyer and the buyer gets to keep the item.

As previously posted, there is no return policy, but if you have a return request, you must return within the timeframe.

You do not accept returns.
That might have something to do with it.

go here to edit and make sure your return preferences dictate what you want done on a return request...
(I add an RMA number so I have the ability to create the return label)

You also may want to consider accepting returns
(you can change existing listings with the bulk editor)

Hi @flygirlsuz
eBay sometimes provides a return label … but only if the seller allows returns.
If the seller has a ‘no return’ policy … the seller decides whether to accept the return OR refund in full if the buyer claims the item is not as described. If the seller does nothing … then eBay will refund in full if asked to step in.

Do "returns" in your listings. Then buyer does not keep the item. And respond to a "INAD" in the allowed time frame. You got to work it out with the buyer. "No returns" do not mean no returns.

Thanks for your input.
Buyers are not returning the items and Ebay has already refunded their money, based on me choosing to “message buyer” (one of 4 seller choices) and Ebay deciding to automatically refund.

Thanks for your response.
Correct, I don’t accept returns because I sell clothing and am afraid buyers will wear and return on Day 29. The buyers know if they choose the Option “Not As Described” it’s mandatory for seller to take the item back.
Isn’t this a no win seller situation?

Thanks Monica!
This is a great tool and thank you for highlighting it for me.
My problem falls into “EBay’s Guarantee” and the fact that there are smart buyers who know the “right” reason to hit to utilize that guarantee. When a seller chooses Option 4- “message buyer” EBay automatically refunds the buyer their money and seller is SOL.
This automatic refund is extremely detrimental for the seller - no money AND no product

No Return Policy for clothing is just going to cause you problems.
When you have a no return policy that means every return request against you will fall under ebay mbg, and you will have to refund anyways.
I've done many many returns and I have never seen ebay refund without return unless the seller neglects the return.
Can you upload screen shot of the return history so I can see the time stamps on how things occurred?

I never have sold clothing on ebay or anywhere, but my daughter started doing this in 2022 in college to make extra money. She seemed to run into the same problem you have described on multiple occasions. She stopped selling clothing on this platform and all together because it was not profitable and became a headache . I'm not familiar with other venues/ sites that might be more seller friendly when it comes to clothing . Ebay seems to be a tough gig for people who sell clothing. Hope you can find a better option

Even with your No Returns policy, which is not a No Refunds policy , you are entitled to demand the return of the disputed item before refunding.
You may have to pay for the return shipping.

I don’t accept returns because I sell clothing and am afraid buyers will wear and return on Day 29.
How often has that actually happened to you?
Is that more or less than one percent of your transactions?
Do you use Cookie Jar Insurance to cover your costs when there is a problem transaction?

Not sure if I understand the "timeline" here.
If INAD, and all you do is "message the buyer" (one of the 4 choices) then, after a while the buyer can be refunded, but that should not be an "immediate" automatic refund.
If "remorse" a "no returns" seller can "decline". Here again just "message buyer" will not end seller's job.
