Issue with an attempted return

I purchased an item that was not as described in the listing.  I initiated a return and never received a return shipping label from the seller (the listing promised return shipping from the seller).  I asked them for the label multiple times and the seller attempted to move the transaction off eBay.

Because I had initiated a return, eBay wants a tracking number which I cannot provide, and won't let me get them to step in.  I attempted to call, but this doesn't help as I only get an automated system.  I seem to be stuck in a loop and in an attempt to get eBay to step in and help.

I canceled the return in hopes that this would give me the option for eBay to step in.  Now it seems that I cannot do anything to proceed with a return.  I don't know how to get eBay to respond

Re: Issue with an attempted return

There are no 2nd chances on returns with ebay. Your only fallback is to use the hammer. File a dispute with your credit card issuer.

Re: Issue with an attempted return

Canceling the return was the wrong thing to do. It's now over for you to use ebay.

By the way, the 'label' was in the 'return case' as sellers are required to either issue a label or let ebay do it, either way, it would be there (unless seller is out of USA; then it's up to you to work with seller to get the $$ for you to pay for a label)

Re: Issue with an attempted return

The OP bought from a China seller and got worked over with some of the usual tactics.

They use the RMA option and can select, Return Label Already Sent, when in fact, no label has been sent yet.

They stall the return, confuse the buyer hoping the buyer does something that hurts themselves or just give up.

When this arises, the buyer needs to contact ebay and let them know, they have no return label. Ebay then gives the seller 5 days to work something out before the ask ebay to step in button is available.

It can be a mess with the overseas sellers, especially the ones that have 92% feedback......

Re: Issue with an attempted return

When you opened the return case, did you wait 3 days for a response, got none and then return to the case and request that eBay step in? There's more than one step to an item not as described case.

Can't exactly tell from your message whether or not you completed the process.

Re: Issue with an attempted return

You should not cancel the return.

Ebay can be step in via that chatbot, just type call the agent, they will call you back and give you a return shipping label by themselves if the seller has no response.
