Hello,
I'm having an issue with a MacBook that I purchased a month ago from a seller. The MacBook was specified as "Brand New" and when it arrived, it did seem brand new, was sealed and everything. I started using it at first and it worked just fine. However, after about 3 weeks, the display just gave out. I took it to the Apple Store and according to the associate, the MacBook is not new after he inspected it. He shared that the computer has had "extensive" work done to it, specifically the logic board has been replaced and the connectors are coming loose, they were held down by tape. I immediately contacted the seller, but instead of communicating through eBay, he tried to call me which made me feel really uncomfortable. I replied that I would like all communication to happen through eBay and opened up a return case. The seller then declined and told me in order for them to help, they would need proof of the fact that MacBook needed repair. If I can supply the proof, they'll be able to contact Apple and either have the repair cost waived (around $670) or pay a portion of it. The next day, I called eBay to see what else can be done because everything just seemed so shady to me. But the eBay rep basically told me that the only thing I can do is to listen to the seller and provide proof. I'm curious if anybody has had a similar situation, I mean how is the seller going to be able to contact Apple to try and help pay or waive the repair cost? Is that even a thing? I just made another appointment with Apple and will try to get proof, the eBay rep suggested I take a picture of the repair plan the Apple associate presented to me. If this proof method doesn't work out, I'll be stuck with an expensive computer that doesn't work. I'm so disheartened by this entire experience and desperately need further help.
Thanks.

If it's been less than 30 days since it was delivered you can file an item not as described case and get a refund. Click the return this item button. You don't need any proof.

This is fraud! Telling the OP to open another return case, after the seller already declined the first return case.
Wondering did you read the OP -- why would you tell the OP to open a return case when they said they opened a return case? It's like saying walk outside when you already walked outside.

Sounds like the OP is outside of the 30 day return window if the seller was able to decline the return. If so, OP is at the mercy of the seller and it does not sound like that is going too well. Hope things somehow work out for the OP.

The seller would have been able to decline if it had been more than 30 days since delivery or you used a buyers remorse reason for the return. If you used a damaged/ doesn't work/ not as described reason for the return and they refused the return then it has been more than 30 days. You could attempt to open a case through your payment provider.

How is that fraud?
eBay’s system won’t let a buyer open a second return case but even if they did it isn’t fraud.
The first return request was decline by the seller, either because OP chose a remorse reason by mistake (the laptop is obviously SNAD) or it was too late. OP can still open a SNAD return through PayPal if it was used, or directly with their payment method.
