Is it compulsory for buyer to return a wrong item other than seller's return address in system?

Hi all , 

There is a scenario I deal with recently, about a wrong item received and the seller wished me to send to another address. It is cross-country shipping and the works would be uneasy.  This seller  insisted I should follow the ebay policies and it sounds like I need to correct this mistake or otherwise I won't be able to get any refund. The seller also ignored all discussion on shipping charges and export duties discussion from my side. 

To simplify the background , this case involved 3 countries , 4 addresses,  oversea shipping charges, privacy and in-/export duties . As I stand still,  I have got my full refund without follow any seller's instructions at the end. 

Is it true that there are policies, like asking the buyer to handle the mistake from seller or sender, especially re-sending the parcel to correct buyer in order to get the full refund ?

Buyers are not required in any way to do what you describe.

A seller can ask anything, but you do not have to comply. 

Glad you received your refund. 

On another note...

Rule of thumb, whenever you open a return case or item not received case,  never close the case before receiving your refund, regardless of what the seller might tell you.

If you are paying for return shipping you only have to return it to an address in the country the item was located in.  If the item location was California and they want you to return it to China then they should provide the return label.

In my scenario, there is no label and the whole chatting was like as if I had to send the wrong item to the seller's required address otherwise I won't be able to get the refund . 

I believe I was lucky. It was very intense when I was urged to complete the return (or parcel forward ?) like it has to be done with few days. My mind was almost blank at that time .
