Incorrect Return Request

I sold a pair of Yakima Fat Cat EVO 6 racks about 2 weeks ago. They were listed as including Locks, Key and Fat Cat Mounts.  I specifically described the Mounts in the “Condition” section as follows:

“Excellent+ Pre-Owned Condition. Slight signs of previous use. (2) Installed Locks and (1) Key included. Sealed 8860081 Fat Cat (Round/Square Bar) Mounts included.”

I also fully described the type of  Mounts that were included in the listing body as follows:

(4) Yakima 8860081 Fat Cat Mounts for Sq. or Rd. Bars (Sealed Pkg.)

I just received a Return Request for the item stating “Missing Parts or Pieces, Missing Brackets…can’t install them”. The Buyer also conveniently included a photo of the unboxed Racks showing the Sealed Bag of Fat Cat Mounts! IMG_0227.jpeg

This is clearly a case  of a Buyer hastily purchasing something before doing the proper research to determine which Mounts are required for their specific vehicle!

That being said, I have no problem at all processing a return for the item but since the Buyer filed the Return as “Item not as Described” eBay now expects me to pay for the Return label! Since I have photographic evidence provided by the Buyer that proves he received exactly what was ordered, what is my best recourse at this point?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, G

Re: Incorrect Return Request

Not much you can do. I see nothing about what vehicle it fits (and if it's universal fitting all, also does NOT say that) so.... buyer is out $$, you have their $$, they don't work for the buyer so..

Obviously nothing you want to hear but...

You can either 'just refund' or 'pay for the shipping label and refund when you receive'

Re: Incorrect Return Request

You’ve missed the point. I not trying to deny the Return. I accept all returns. I’m simply pointing out that the Return label expense should be on the Buyer which is how any Return would be processed if it isn’t an INAD return.

Geesh! I have a very clear photo provided by the Buyer that proves he received exactly what he ordered. Hence, not an INAD!

Re: Incorrect Return Request

As to your “Universal fitting” comment. I didn’t list the item as “Universal Fit” so I’m unsure why you would bring that up. In fact listing CLEARLY states for Round or Square Bars!  If the Buyer doesn’t have a vehicle that has Round or Square Bars then:

1. Why is he purchasing an item that specifically states “Round or Square Bars?

2. If he failed to read the listing, why would I be responsible for the Return label when the item clearly isn’t INAD?

Re: Incorrect Return Request

Buyers often don't read the description.  If items are missing, say that in the title of the listing. Then start and end the description with it too.  Then you stand a chance they might notice it.  Sorry as others have said, the buyer is always right.  Process the return.  It's all you can do.............Cheers.

It is an INAD.

The buyer claims pieces are missing.

Have a great day.

Re: Incorrect Return Request

His photo clearly shows it is NOT an INAD!  It shows 2 Racks and a sealed Bag of Fat Cat Mounts which is exactly what I advertised.

The buyer filed an INAD and that's all Ebay cares about.

Once the item is returned, you can report the buyer for abusing the MBG, but won't make any difference.

Have a great day.
