I'm a seller and buyer. I just received an item and the seller accidentally sent me the wrong item.
i went to open a return request. when i selected wrong item sent, ebay prompted me for a picture. It would not let me submit the return request without a picture.
This is similar to how posh handles returns. I think it's a very good step in helping seller avoid false inad returns.
I'm pretty sure ebay doesn't review the pictures like posh used to.. but it may at least stop semi honest buyers from opening up false inad.
has anyone else noticed this additional step??
It's also possible that the reason i was prompted for a picture was because the seller i purchased from doesn't accept returns.
does anyone have any additional info on this new prompt for photo evidence and one can't submit return request without the photo

Look at feedback you left and looks all good to me: facts and to the point when you have problems:
From both a buyer and seller I understand such happens.
As for the photo thing: this is what eBay is doing, not the seller: Just saying..
It has been on a trial bases for some time: I suspect we will see more of this....

Why would you do that? They're simply asking you to substantiate a claim. Is it really so difficult to provide a photo? Imagine if someone didn't like the size box you used to ship something you sell and left you negative feedback.

Yes, it is very difficult for me to provide a clear picture. I just moved, and all of the lights in my house are LED. And they interfere with my phone's ability to take pictures that aren't blurry. And I'm at work every day during daylight hours, so for me to provide clear pictures I have to take them outside during my lunch break, which causes me to not have enough time to eat lunch and consequently end up getting a stomach ache from not eating. All because the seller packed my item poorly, causing it to be broken in transit. The sellers know that they did a bad job packing They don't need a picture from me to know what they did wrong.

They started doing that in an effort to help sellers and buyers with returns. It certainly can help to some degree. However a dishonest buyer could put up a picture of anything and say this is what the seller sent them. Still very hard to deal with these scamming no good customers.

If it were me, someone who uses 1/2 inch bubble wrap, packing peanuts, and double wall boxes, would you provide a photo? Maybe a few? I think empathy goes along way in life.

Yes I would. But so far in my 17 years of buying products off of eBay, that's never happened to me before.

I needed to and returned my purchase because it is faulty. I can't take a picture because it is returned

However, I have had two need-to-be-refunded situations on poshmark, which irritated me to no end. Puzzles missing pieces. "Show us a picture." Uhhh, they're not here.
I just do chargebacks in cases where the site is dumb as gourds.
I'm just curious. How do you know pieces are missing if you have not completed the puzzle. And having complete the puzzle, minus the missing pictures, why didn't you take a picture at that time?
Secondly, every puzzle manufacturer I deal with has a "no missing pieces guarantee". On those extraordinarily rare case when I have received a missing piece claim the buyer was able to simply contact the manufacturer and they sent out a replacement puzzle at no charge. In other words the return was not necessary.
The biggest concern we sellers have is that someone will buy the puzzle and then CLAIM there is a piece missing to get a refund and therefore the puzzle for free.

Did you contact the seller first and give them a chance to correct their mistake? In the hustle bustle of trying to get everything out the door I will admit I have made an occasional mistake. Fortunately not that many but I have never claimed to be infallible - I leave that for the Pope.
On those occasions when the buyer contacted me I immediately made good on it. You should at least have tried that first. Probably would have gone a lot smoother.

don't think this will solve anything as the buyer could still just return a different item from their photo. cheaters will do whatever works
