I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

I sold an item with this title,

"Hazel Atlas 1/2 oz Creamer Bottle MILK RELATED Pennsylvania Dairy Farmer NOS"

Please note the title says creamer, not creamers, not LOT of 7.  I had a drop down menu to select 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , or 7 items.  I showed 1 photo of all 7 items, then 9 photos of an individual creamer.  The description did not say this was a lot.  The description was this:

New old stock Hazel Atlas creamers.  Found in a case of 144 creamers in the basement along with a lot of other farm related items from an old farm near Brownsville Pa.  All are unused but have been washed because of the dust that was on them.

Please ask any questions before purchase.  If you purchase more than 1, they can be shipped together.  Add to cart and request a new invoice.

We're downsizing to move, and trying to rehome almost a century's worth of items from 2 homes, basements, garages, and barns.  Please check back often.

The buyer purchased all 7, received a 20% discount, and all 7 were sent in one package.

The buyer, who is a seller, has a store, has sold 18K items, has 7110 feedback, 99.6% positive, has requested a refund, stating the reason as missing parts or pieces, and the comments as

"I bid on 7 lots of 7 creamers and only received 7 total if this is all you are sending send me a return shipping label to send them back"

anasazirose_0-1668651302350.png

SO, I will of course accept a return, but the buyer did not bid, this was not an auction.  The buyer purchased as a BIN 7 creamers at $8.  The buyer says they believed they were getting 49 creamers.     I replied to the buyer,

The item has a drop down menu to select how many creamers you want. You selected 7 creamers. That is the total number of creamers I had. No where does it say that selecting 1 means it's a lot of 7. I'm sorry you didn't understand that. You can definitely return the item, however I don't offer free returns. Do you need the address? Amanda

I have not received a response from the buyer.

Also, for me to accept the return, it says I can send a label.  So that means I have to pay for it?
I'm thinking I'll have to, although I don't think it's fair I have followed the boards enough to now that ebay always sides with the buyer.  I absolutely want my items back so the other options aren't even a choice.

I believe this to be a remorse purchase because after purchasing my item, the buyer is now bidding on
a lot of 3 of the same item from another seller and it's about 1/10th the price, but instead of being sincere and just paying to return, this seller turned buyer is playing the system to get me to pay for the return.  Of course the name is hidden, but the feedback is the same.  anasazirose_1-1668652366308.png

Ok, to anyone who stayed this long.   Am I getting stuck paying for the return is I want my item back because the buyer bought 7 items and says he thought he was getting 49?

If ebay sends a label, it's uninsured, correct?  If so, How do I buy a priority label and send it?

Also, the return request is for 1 creamer, and is for  $8 and $1.27 shipping.

The entire purchase was $64.88 before tax.

Do I send a label, wait for all 7 to be returned then refund the entire amount?

Re: I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

Normally you would be forced to accept this return (and pay for the label to get them back)  because she filed an INAD.  It's pretty dismal and sad how little rights sellers have once a buyer files an INAD.

This case is unique because she only requested to return one of them so you probably will be able to close out the case by only refunding her around $8.  But I am unsure if she is able to open up a second return once the return is closed and she realizes her mistake.

In the future try to avoid a picture of multiple items when you're only selling one of them, however I get the sense that she knew exactly what she was doing when she purchased this (Your price is very reasonable).

If it was me I would just refund her the $8 for the one she's requesting to return (to close the case) and hope that is the end of it.

I wanted to see what the label would cost, and just clicking to see the choices accepted the return and I then had to click send label or ebay would send it.  LOL, this is sure designed to force the seller's hand, isn't it?   The buyer now has until Dec 8 (why so long???) to return.  Even though I am still in the process of this learning experience, I sure would appreciate any other comments, suggestions or opinions.

Re: I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

Well, this keeps getting weirder.  So the buyer only requested to return one, even though they said they were returning all 7.  I got the package today, and they only shipped one.  I refunded the amount ebay said I owed, $9.27 ($8 +1.27 shipping - 1.27 fees= $8).  Now, I am wondering if the buyer is going to request 6 more returns, have me send 6 more labels and send back each one individually.  Are they really allowed to do that?

.

I'm also wondering if they kept 6 to compare mine to the similar ones they are bidding on.  The mold numbers on the bottoms of those are different than mine.  What is my recourse if they return the other seller's items to me?

Not if they were all shipped on one order. You should be done with this buyer. BBL 'em!

Re: I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

I shipped all 7 in one box, with one tracking number.  Buyer requested return through ebay of one creamer.  I sent a label through ebay.  I rec'd one creamer and issued the refund for it.

anasazirose_0-1668915278450.png

Now, I got this

Screenshot 2022-11-19 at 22-35-35 NameHiddenMy eBay Messages.png

I had to update tracking, so I entered the original tracking.  That's all I had.

Screenshot 2022-11-19 at 22-39-16 Item Not Received eBay.png

Now what happens? The buyer bought 7 creamers, I sent 7.  Buyer told me they got 7 creamers but expected 7 LOTS of 7 (NOWHERE in my listing did it say a lot of 7, there was a drop down menu to select how many creamers).  Buyer requested refund of 1 creamer, I sent a label and received 1 creamer and issued the 'ebay guided' refund.  Now I have more funds on hold for the 6 creamers the buyer kept and are now saying they didn't get.

Wow this keeps getting weirder and weirder. She definitely seems like some kind of scammer hoping somehow by returning one she would get refunded for all of them. I definitely blocked her seeing her name there (thank you! Lol)

That's great that you added the tracking number. If it was me I would call eBay in 3 days to see if you can get them to manually close it. I find that in these cases if someone files an INR and you have the tracking you're completely fine (but they won't close until 3 days after the case is open).

Re: I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

When I went to add the tracking, I looked in my shipped orders.  I clicked on it and almost copied the most recent tracking number.  THAT number was for the return, showing delivery to me of the one that was returned.  It took me a minute to find the original tracking number, the one of the creamers going to the buyer. It was in my labels, which I only found by going to reprint the label.

.

I wonder if I'd had uploaded the return one if that would have been enough for ebay to take the money?  I'm glad I noticed.

I have seen in the community that calling ebay generally doesn't help.  If I don't call, will they close it automatically?  Do you have the phone number or can you tell me where to find it?

Re: I need help to process a return request from a buyer. It's my 1st one.

I received this message last night.  Am I supposed to keep responding through the respond button?  It seems futile at this point.  The buyer told me they wanted to return them, requested through ebay to return one and was refunded, then said they did not receive the other 6, I uploaded the original tracking, now they say they returned all 7.

.

Where the buyer says I blocked them, I blocked them on my BBL, and only AFTER it was suggested here,  but I didn't know that meant I was blocking them from messaging me.   They also seem to have made a Freudian slip where they state "This buyer is trying to scam...".  They are the buyer.

.

This situation has me rethinking sending multiple items together.  It's feeling like a very elaborate planned out way to try to get something for nothing.

.

SO, am I supposed to respond to this message?  Are these responses for ebay or for the buyer and seller to try to resolve this?  At this point, can there can be a resolution reached?  The buyer wants money for something they kept, 1st they said they got them, wanted to return them, returned 1 of 7, got refunded for the return, then said they didn't get them, then said they returned all 7.  Do you think the buyer could be fishing for a partial refund?  If I do that, they still win, I still lose. What should I do?  What would you do?

Right now @anasazirose you just need to get the Item Not Received refund request closed, ignoring any and all other history and the details.

Leave a private message here for eBay on Facebook (or open an account just to contact eBay) and give eBay the original delivered-to-buyer tracking number, and ask eBay to close the case. Again, don't tell a story; just get the refund request off of your plate now, ahead of the 3 business days.

xaxa59_1-1668975681479.jpeg

To be clear, eBay won't close return requests early when a seller contacts eBay; it's not refund requests.

xaxa59_2-1668976169645.jpeg

And your buyer cannot start another return request for the remaining 6 creamers.

Later on, we'll ask why the buyer was allowed to start an INR refund request, after a SNAD Missing parts or pieces return request was already returned, refunded, and resolved. And we'll discuss if the buyer can file an INR or SNAD dispute at PayPal, and/or chargeback for the rest of their payment with their card issuer.

Are lyrics like *Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth* worthy of 41 number one hits?
