High Rate of Returns Fee

So I have been charged an extra 5% in auto part sales which is mostly starters and alternators.  I am a top rated plus seller now on Ebay over 17 years. I use Ebay fitment detail for year, make, model searching. I have plentiful detail in 4 places including bullet points, item specifics, tables, and table images. I have googled the average return of the auto parts category and the average return rate online according to google and CNBC articles etc is 19.4% yet Ebay charges me a high rate of return fee of 5% on top of the 11% already charged for final value for being above around 2%... so I am at over 16% now total for having returns for item not as described above 2% which surprisingly that is somehow is my "peer" average.  Auto parts are said to be the highest return rate category overall so it is basically impossible to stay under the threshold Ebay sets because buyers will ALWAYS return for a wrong reason....  This excess fee for high rate of return policy is outright stealing from me.   This comes off total sale INCLUDING sales tax that we never receive and negatively effects my net profit margin very badly... This fee or any final value fee shouldn't include a percent of the sales tax obviously that goes to the state for tax but that isn't the main concern here....  It is extremely unfair everything that is happening with the high rate of return fee overall and how customer service has been treating me over this.  I have reported many buyers for false reason returns because mostly people bought without reading the title or description and simply not checking which part they actually need for their vehicle.  I have returns for many false reason to be my fault and I can't fathom that it is costing me even more now after even offering free returns to everyone as a top rated plus seller so I already pay for the return labels to ensure smooth returns and now this to punish me.... I mention in my listings if it is fit for an automatic or manual transmission but the buyer does not even read one of 4 places in my title, bullets, description table, or table in images that mentions MANUAL TRANS. People simply do not care and we SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR THIS especially when I can prove I am not in the wrong which I have done by calling many times.  Another instance they did not verify the correct liter motor they had and then return as "item does not fit".... .  Another instance, buyers don't verify they had a swapped motor then also say "item does not fit".  Another buyer did not verify the year of their car, oh that is "item not as described" now and somehow my fault so lets charge me a fee for their mistake once again....  Many buyers say my brand new part is bad but I take that same starter after I receive the return and bench test and find there is nothing wrong with it, mark it in a discrete spot so I know if it gets returned again and it never comes back once I sell those to someone else... I have detailed charts in all my listings in the description, bullet points, as well as the same detail put in an image i my gallery to make things as clear as I possibly can. I of course have fitment data for verified fit in my listings as well.  I contact people that return stuff periodically to help with a solution only too find they returned for a reason out of my control but said it to be our fault in the return reason.  I spoke to some representatives and was told to report the buyers in those instances which I did and a promise that can fix my issue. NOTHING changed with my service metric rating after clarifying the wrongful return reasons still affecting my rating before I wasted my time reporting each return.  I was lied to by now 4 Ebay representatives. One put me on hold and pretended to speak to another department and then finally got "approval" and the fee "credited" back to my account and was apparently able to remove the high rate of return fee. Left them positive feedback after the call and everything only to find that they had completely lied to me. I feel completely stupid and naïve for having left very good feeback after the call for a complete LIE!!!  Then I tried again and another rep did the SAME THING! Called again and spoke to a rep who told me yes wait another 24 to 72 hours and you will get the refund.... LIE after LIE!  Called a 4th rep and there was never a request on my account by ANY of the previous reps just hours of my time wasted and many lies.  The 4th rep was honest and said yeah we can't do anyhting about this and ONLY because I told that rep the call was being recorded because I can't trust any rep they all lie...... So I was out right lied too multiple times and it is completely garbage to treat us sellers with all lies.  Just a little bit ago called. arep to document all of this and speak to a higher up. she apparently wrote a report and was going to transfer me to a supervisor.  The call magically dropped as she transferred me and no call back.   Does ebay corporate really train reps to lie or what is going on??? I am now recording my calls with Ebay as there is some very fraudulent activity here to take money from us sellers with no way to fight it when I know I am in the right.  A few of the returns yes are our fault for wrong item shipped but 90% of the returns where false reason and I need to have some say in this considering I am being ripped off because of their false reasons.  Buyers nowadays return things for whatever reason and don't care it is costing us sellers an extra fee and most don't even know how it effects us in the end. Most of the time a return reason is simply NOT TRUE!  I have even made small edits every now and then as I see returns to make text Bold such as the word AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ONLY, and so on to hopefully make people see it from one of the 4 places it is mentioned in my listing even better.  I am at a loss and I am getting a very bad taste in my mouth for the amount of lies, stealing, and greediness Ebay is coming to bring upon me recently after being on this platform for 17 years. I will not stop trying and will be finding contact with corporate and I want these lies brought up and dealt with and I also need a change here. It is very easy to not care and simple charge us the fee.  I am a top rated plus seller offering FREE returns already so I already made returns easy as they can be already!! Not relevant but of course my choice but I also pay a ton in advertising fees so adding 5% is just outright ridiculous.  Just because your a big company you need to remember us sellers is the reason for that so gives us some break here and a way to work to improve because at this point my returns are just a statistic that will always happen no matter what changes I make in my already very detailed listings prove me wrong!! Looking for anybody else dealing with this and we should all fight corporate for a better resolution. ....

High Rate of Returns Fee

Would not mind reading your long story but it would have to be paragraphed.

High Rate of Returns Fee

1st Alternator I came across on your listings states it fits a 1960's Deisel and a 1981 Chevy Belair. Your alternators seem to NOT be direct bolt on as the bolt pattern/plug pattern would NOT be the same for over 2000 vehicles as you have that one listed. They may be able to 'work' but not direct without some modifying.

This is an example of probably why you are getting so many returns.

High Rate of Returns Fee

In fact yes the fitment was pulled from another reputable seller and those alternator yes are complicated as far as fitment being more for universal uses.  Anyhow this mainly is in regards to the listings with guaranteed fit where as ironically the listing you saw is one of a few that are a universal fit part that we offer.  Majority of the returns came from not verifying transmission auto/manual that our listings mention, buyer buying wrong year that the listing never mentioned, etc.
