Extend window to send our return?

Wondering if it's possible to extend the time to send back a return?  It's complicated, I received a used and worn item that was advertised as new in box.  In 24 yrs on eBay I've never had to do a return.  I contacted the seller who admitted his mistake, he agreed to a refund and I sent them out on my own  to sellers return address on pkg not using eBay's label.  After learning the proper procedure a day later, I opened a return on eBay for the item but of course had already sent out on my own.  Turns out seller used a street address (no po box) of a branch PO as his return address.  The pkg sat in that PO for 10 days before I learned where it was.  I don't know why it wasn't returned to me.

I opened a dispute with USPS and spoke to a rep in a nearby office requesting to have pkg returned to sender.  Not sure what they're doing but the tracking shows it was delivered to another address in same town and then scanned addressee unknown.

This return date from eBay is closing in and I'm not sure I'll have it back in time at the rate it's going.  The seller has not been helpful at all.

No, they won't extend the time you have to get the item scanned and shipped back.

If you have the tracking number you used, you can contact CS and see if they'll update the tracking number on the return.

'seller used a street address'...changed address...item should be returned to where it came usually.

'sat in PO for 10 days'...seller has not picked it up.

Adding your tracking to the return item might work in your favor.

You might get lucky as seller refused to pick it up.

'why it wasn't returned to me'...it's waiting to be picked up by the seller.

Hi,  I really dont' think that eBay will be willing to do this.  All of the policies that are in place seem to be "Etched In Stone."  Good Luck Though - It never hurts to try.............

Well in this case if the buyer hadn't lied in the description and used a return address that apparently wasn't his address,  the item would have gotten back to him 2 days after it arrived.  Not always the buyer that's bad.

Not sure I was clear.  I returned the item to the seller's return address on the label.  The return address had the business name, not his name.  Tracking said it was delivered 2 days later.  When I asked if he had gotten it, he gave me a song and dance about not receiving it because he doesn't ship from that address.  Turns out the return address on his label was the street address of a post office.  There was no PO box # on his label.  I'm a retired postal clerk.  We don't let people use physical addresses of POs as their own address.  It should have been returned immediately to me (the sender) yet it sat in that PO for 10 until I figured it out and initiated a dispute with USPS.

It doesn't matter if they lied or not.

 

You sent the item back on your own and that's why you don't have your money.

The problem is, the OP paid to return the item and didn't use the label provided through Ebay.

Right now, Ebay doesn't know it's been returned so the case is saying they need to ship it back.
