I've been selling on eBay for many years and have been lucky enough to have only a few returns. Last week i got a request to return an item that the buyer claims showed up damaged. I am happy to refund if the item was actually the item i sold to them. Upon inspection of the "damage" pictures she sent, the price sticker on the bottom of the item is in a completely different place than the item i sold, verified by listing photos. Ebay still approved the return and sent a label. Somehow it went to an old address that is not even associated with my account anymore. So now i have to refund even though i will never receive the item back, even if it was mine? I have found no place to reach eBay to report the wrong address and my reporting of the buyer for false claims still have gone unanswered.
Should I just assume i am getting screwed out of this money?

As far as the wrong address, nothing you can do about it, but to update your addresses for the future.

What was the reason used for the return and how much we talkin?

It’s $70 which normally wouldn’t be a lot but seeing as I’m out of work it’s a couple weeks worth of groceries.
And the claim is the item was damaged, which is a relevant, because according to the photos they sent me of the damaged item. It’s not even the item that I sent. You can clearly see by looking at the bottom of the boxes at the price tag is in a different place and it’s nowhere near close to the same. It’s a complete scam.

My shipping address is correct. All purchases and the address on my labels is all correct.

You only responded to 1 of the 2 questions I asked. What was the 'reason' used?

Wondering were you able to get your answers?

They claimed the item was damaged. They sent a picture of the item that clearly does not match the original photos from the original listing. The price tags are in completely different places. I previously submitted this issue to eBay, which they completely ignored. They favored in her case, which I have no peeled, because I have photographic evidence that it is not the same item.

It's splitting hairs, but are ALL of your Address fields correct... not just those on your labels? Even the 'Return' address?
