Ebay & Chase debit card dispute issue:

I bought a MacBook Pro from eBay on July 11th. I returned it back and asked for the refund on Jul 26th based on free return policy on Ebay. Three days later, I asked Ebay to step in since I had not received the refund then. However, my account was suspended for no reasons after I opened a case on Ebay.

In order to get my money back, I opened a debit dispute case with my bank. The bank gave me money back on Aug 1st, but reversed my dispute on Sep 13rd. The reason for reversing the dispute is that the returned package (1lb) was way different from the original package(8lbs), which is the evidence provided by Ebay. However, on the return shipping label provided by eBay/ the seller, the weight is 1lb. In other words, Ebay used their self-generated shipping label to challenge me…. and since my previous account is suspended, I can retrieve the messages info to argue with them but only have a photocopy of the shipping label. Also, my bank told me the case is finalized so they can change it. How can I get help?

I believe in this case, if your ebay account was suspended and the bank said no, then the answer is no.

The key is the return shipping label. It was written as only 1 lb when I received it in messages from the seller. But in the end they used it to challenge me.... I only had a photocopy of it, but since they suspended me, I can not retrieve the info in my messages anymore. I filed a police report early today, hoping that could force them to reinvestigate into it.

That's 2000 bucks, a MacBook Pro. I can not afford to lose 2000 bucks...

It is really hard to have a buyer account suspended. What happened there and in the past on EBay?

Your bank is always the last course of action. Having them side with eBay is not a good sign. How many chargebacks have been filed in the past year or so?

I did retuned some items back to eBay (around 20%). But I did choose I have a better deal or something. And I did return the exact same thing back. This time I was shocked since they said I was fraudulent about the weight. But the weight on return shipping label was provided by the seller. I asked eBay for return shipping label original info but they just refused.

This makes no sense to me since if I did something fraudulent, why not just throw the evidence out and punch my face?

I sent the MacBook Pro back and watched it sealed by shipper. I am not afraid of being questioned in any ways. But they just took my money and the MacBook Pro and tried to shut me up, throwing dirties on my and say I am fraudulent.

I did file a police report today and tried to implement law enforcement to reinvestigate into the case.

By the way, after I disputed with my bank, the bank issued me the refund on Aug 1st but reversed it on Sep 13th…. Just yesterday. Obviously EBay just challenged it with the weight difference. And clearly my bank didn’t know who provided the return shipping label……

Before you 'returned' all those 'other things', how long were you a member?

How many feedback did you have?

What reasons were you using for those 'returns'.

What type 'items' were you returning?

All 'returns' are shown as 1 lb as they are ALL 'First Class' labels (back when FC was in before GA). The 'actual' weight and then 'charge' back to the seller, is determined afterwards.

If you have a copy of the original tracking, take it to the Post Office and see if they can determine what the 'finalized' weight was- if they can, open up talks with your Credit Card again. If they can't- you are probably done.

Yes I did give it to the police officer.

I was a member since 2020. But yes I only actively used it starting this year since I wanna buy some cheaper apple devices on EBay. I did compare the price and returned one iPad Pro and this MacBook Pro after I found better deals.

but I observed all the return procedure and check their return policy first before returning.

OP, its good practice to blur out personal details such as name and addresses.

You may have followed all proper procedure regarding your returns, as you found a better deal, (shouldn't that count as a remorse return and you pay for the shipping?) but I guess that eBay may have determined that your 20% return rate was too high to consider you a valued member and decided to boot you out of their platform. $2000 is a lot of money, I agree, as mentioned a few threads back, you need to get back to carrier and have them provide you with a more accurate label indicating the proper weight. Conversely, you can also go to eBay on social media, Facebook business, and ask for their assistance regarding the label and then use that for you chargeback claim.

Who knows, maybe the fact that you already had a claim with eBay, and then opened up another claim with your card when eBay closed your account may have set things off and created an internal mess.

As a side note, this is why sometimes is best to pick you battles when it comes to returns. I won't be surprised if other platforms start cracking down on returns, as it does cost time & money.

Good luck.

NOT police; take that to the Post Office to do what I stated. Police will take a report and give it it's 'due' justice. YOU have to try to move the bar on this one. Take that tracking to the PO and see if you can get finalized shipping weight.

2. that was last On FedEx vehicle for delivery

3. then Delivered by FedEx signed for by BE A SQUIRREL

I'm going to say the person at Chase doesn't know how to do their job.

However, based on what you reported eBay has you flagged as a scammer and abusive buyer.

Ebay only provides what they feel shows you are being dishonest. Chase didnt look at the evidence correctly if they based it on a return service label showing 1 lb, unless fedex internally has it weighted at 1 lb and you are actually scamming.

Really??

oh jeez; Fedex then- get that info from the CARRIER!! (typical 'return labels are from USPS).

Are you REALLY missing that point??

The PD will do nothing.

Your bank will do NOTHING unless you PROVE that the package weighed MORE than 1 lb.

WHAT I STATED- is how you'd do it.

Just a note not all labels were FC for return labels.

EBay also issued priority return labels for packages 1lb.+

Before GA came out eBay was also issuing FedEx return labels.

Ebay & Chase debit card dispute issue:

thanks! and just update. I talked to Fedex, they said although the weight on label was 1 lb, the weight measured before being delivered to the merchant, on July 26th, was 7.90 lbs. So clearly the claim given by eBay that the way difference of weight is not true. Fedex claimed they can not send me the copy unless I ask police officer to step in. So I think I should let my local police officer know it and then they investigate into the case.
