Ebay Buyer: Refund falls short - bank credit less than < stated £ on return case, inbox, credit note

I made a purchase of two of the same item, I decided to return them... The case was accepted and a label provided for me as the listing stated everywhere that it would be covered by the seller in such and event.

The tracked return label provided through my ebay inbox was used and the items were sent back and recieved by the seller, the return was processed with no contest, damage, postage or discounts to the amount to be credited.  So the amount as stated on the credit invoice, which only appears for reference via the order details page and is not referenced once in the returns process at all, nor is the information displayed elsewhere should match the refund credited to my bank account. . . Except it doesn't, without explanation I'm ><10% short on the original purchase price of £36.08 a grand old total of -£3.68.

Seeing as we're quibbling over less than the cost of a pint (LDN)  it strikes me that most people would not stretch to complain about it given how hard it has been to address ebay on the matter I suspect I am not the only person affected by this error, there's roughly 2bn transactions a day, lets say 5% of those will be refunded... that's 100m refunds of varying size and reasons, each missing a little tip on top, is ebay considering itself in the un-hospitable realm of tipping itself now?

How is it possible that I have multiple communications and account screens showing I should recieve more than I have been credited, it's been near impossible to use the help section / chat bot to any effect, it's eventually yealded a contact form and I'm currently awaiting a responce from ebay within 48hrs.

I think it's just been some latent messages getting through, a mix up of transactions, but maybe not a problem.  No remorse, just a little confusion... Seller did not dispute, and ebay did not note a postage cost.

I didn't realise it'd .com'd me but 'ey! That's what often happens when you're on the .co.uk, it's confusing as hell and not helpful at all, worst of all we get prices on items from UK sellers priced in Dollars and converted back again sometimes, with other shipping and taxes that don't apply showing up on search engines and results.
It's odd how such simple things can get so messed up, or is it... Why did ebay become such a costly wormhole to think your way around. Just a way to waste a bit of time in the end isn't it.

Since I don’t know the particulars of the return. I can only take an educated guess.

It sounds like your return was a remorse return so you would be refunded minus the cost of the return shipping label.
You can always ask this same question on the eBay UK site, (you’re currently on eBay.com USA,) which may or may not provide different conclusion.
