Unfortunately I had a client buy a mirror which I sent by FedEx through ebay (client made choice of service and paid for shipping). I have never processed a refund before and I have tried looking at the information available which doesn't make much sense to me so I am looking for some plain English, straight forward guidance. The Item was $20.00 and the Shipping $10.00 . Any assistance/guidance is appreciated.

I know this doesn’t seem to make sense, but on eBay the SELLER Is responsible for getting the item to the buyer in the condition that it was in the listing.
Yes, if you want the item back, you need to pay return shipping, or you can refund without requiring it be returned.

Yes you would refund the buyer in full. eBay refunds the sales tax. You will receive credit on your seller fees.

Also to add- the carrier (be it UPS, USPS or Fedex) is not on the Buyer or the Carrier as you chose to sell/pack and ship a mirror- something VERY breakable to YOU had to be the one to protect it for a toss off the 2nd floor balcony.

Yes, if the item is broken in transit, sellers refund the buyer 100% . Whatever insurance and recourse sellers have in place, they can follow afterwards

and just to add here, the chances of recovering anything on the insurance is near nil unless there are tire tracks on the packaged linked to the carrier vehicle, and said tracks/damaged noted by the carrier at delivery.
