Buyer wants to return "for parts/not working" item ? What ebay business premise is behind this ?

I have been buying and selling for more than 20 years. on ebay. Lately, I have been sales-oriented as a private person. The other day, for the first time, I had a case where a customer wanted a refund for an item that was clearly and unequivocally described as "defective and for parts", and I further stated that I "suspected that the cathode ray tube was defective", it is an old HP 9000 series CRT monitor from 1985.

But I was surprised in general that ebay allows the buyer to request a refund for an item that is listed as broken and for parts...I understand the aspects and x,y combinations that the same item that is sold as defective and for parts arrives to the buyer broken or damaged, but in my case that didn't happen.

At first, the customer claimed in the message that the packaging was bad and that the cathode ray tube was "broken" as a result, although there is no visible damage to the monitor's plastic casing. But when I warned him that this is not possible without external damage that would be visible, then he turned the story to "bad photos" of the monitor screen.

Seeing where it leads, I realized that he did not carefully read what he himself admitted in the negative feedback  he gave me "I fully admit I missed the last bit of the description where he says the tube maybe faulty. But this is the equivalent of selling a blown light bulb." after a long discussion.

So under the concept of common sense, to complain and be compensated for a purchased thing that is explicitly stated as defective and for parts borders on thinking that the earth is a flat surface !

But fate played with my opponent "flat earther" because he closed the case even before he got a refund, probably due to ignorance or complicity, so at least I remained financially covered.

Ebay can chew everything for commission/profit !

So, I answered the question I asked in the header myself !

Commission&profit !

Now I can complain to the management of the "waterworks" regarding ebay defective and for parts refund policy  ;-(((

Regarding NEGATIVE FEEDBACK...

I can complain also to the water supply management, but ... although I'm trying to dispute that too... now it's waiting for the decision of the "ebay central committee" in the form of augmented reality aka AI or the approval of a living person "agent" ?

Your response to the negative was worse than the negative.

All a buyer has to say is "not as described" and the sellers choice is "return for refund" or "refund without return"

IF you are waiting for eBay to step in you will lose, get a seller defect and not get your FVFs back.

It doesnt matter if you say 12 ways that the item is broken. When the buyer says Not As Described you lose.

The 30 Day MBG is still in play for Items sold in that category because you could have easily shipped an empty can of tuna instead of a monitor.

Selling junk is risky no matter now you describe it.

Buyers have the MBG and many know how to exercise it.

What is the purpose of the small cube that indicates "Returns: No returns accepted." whether, as a seller, you want the goods to be returned to you/in which case?

Tortunately, there are few of these "straight earthlings", but when you run into them, be ready and in full military gear !
