I sold a new item as described. The buyer even asked me for items measurements which I sent with Pictures of measurements. The buyer claims the jacket has a tear, scratches on buttons and more.
I believe the buyer has this item already and is exchanging it for my new one. I ask buyer for picture proof but the pictures don't add up.
It doesn't look like there's real protection for the seller on Ebay!!!!!! How can I protect myself and keep %50 of the funds when an item is refunded/returned?

Accept the return and provide a return label. Hope that you actually get the item that you shipped back.
In an INAD, there is no proof you can provide to prove anything. It's always the word of that "poor, innocent, deceived" buyer against the word of that "lying, thieving, dishonest" seller.
Welcome to eBay!

You can't on this one.
If the buyer files an INAD, they'll get a full refund, no matter what they ship back.

I just want to add, I'm sorry, but this is what eBay has done to the site. As a seller, you are assumed to be the liar and cheater and the buyer is always right. I'd spend the week-end checking out other places that don't hang you out to dry without even asking for evidence.

One last thing-You have some really cute stuff, but it is too much money for this site. Now that you have learned that, pull those. You are brand new and the buyers who earn a living cheating new sellers are going to be all over you to steal those items.

How to handle Scum
The first thing to do is to accept the return, otherwise eBay will let the buyer keep the item, plus refund them at your expense, plus you’ll get a defect on your account.
If you receive the item back in a different condition than as sent and/or the buyer lied about the reason for the return, report the buyer>
Then block them.
Then, read this link re Seller Protection>
Then, see if this will help:
An item that is returned after it was used or damaged by the buyer
Sellers who offer free returns and who are not Below Standard are eligible for this protection
How to issue a partial refund when the item is returned in a different condition
To issue a partial refund:
In addition, make a police report, internet fraud report, USPS fraud report to send with your appeal.
Also note the weight and size of original package vs returned package, ie photos, label info
Reports for USPS here>
United States Postal Inspection Service
Mail Fraud Complaint>

Then
Contact eBay via social media with a private message:

By being TRS.
But that isn't protection it is just mitigation of some of the damage.
