Buyer given a MONTH to start a return and then another THREE WEEKS to actually ship item?!

This is nuts!  Buyer given a month to initiate a return, then another three weeks to actually put it in the mail and I have no choice but to give a full refund.  So buyer buys a ladies shirt, wears it throughout February and most of March and then returns it for a full refund.  Not even Amazon has a return policy like that!

I always thought the 'Forever + 1 Day' policy for returns was a bit too wide a window, too. We empathize... hang in there.

If she bought it on the 8th. So she probably received it on the 12th.

Today is  only March 2nd. She could not have worn it "most of march"

That is 18 days.  Not a month.

Lift your left leg at midnight to start off on the right foot. Happy new Year!

She has another three weeks to ship the item!  That's "most of March".  She has opened the return but hasn't shipped it yet.

Hi @vonandron

I agree that buyers no longer need 3 weeks to return an item as they did during pandemic lockdowns … which is when the time period was extended.

But as a buyer only, I am extremely disappointed to read your assumption that buyers are continuously using the items they are asking to return.   I’m sure that is far from the norm.  That certainly isn’t something I would do.

BTW, whenever I’ve requested a return from Amazon … I’ve always been given 30 days to bring it to UPS.  [I’ve never needed anything close to that time … but I just wanted to be clear about Amazon’s return policy.]

Just because ebay gives (what does seem) an excessive amount of time to get returns into the mail, most buyers don't take that time. I've found that most buyers ship the item back within less than a week.

Too bad I'm not in the financial position Amazon is.  Thanks for your "help".

I doubt you can state with any statistical certainty what "most" buyers do who return items, but thanks for the "help".

Same experience here. Buyers normally ship a return back to me within a few days. Nothing has changed in that aspect over the years.

Wrong. Once you file a return with Amazon a buyer has 30 days to get it in the mail.

A buyer also has 30 days to open a return from the delivery date, same as ebay.

Again, I'm not in the same financial position as Jeff Bezos.  Thanks for being "helpful".

@vonandron

I sold here for years until last Spring. When I sold, I used 30-Day (Buyer pays) Returns and I even accepted remorse Returns. Of all the (few) Returns I ever dealt with, the buyer usually did return in a timely manner. After all, they want a refund. :ebayboxwmoney:

I'm only telling you this ^^^ to get you past your present angst. My (tongue-in-cheek) 'Forever + 1 Day' comment still stands.
