Bubble mailer arrived ripped open

Hello I was wondering if anyone is able to help me out I just received my package from a seller on eBay that was shipped by USPS(insured) and when I can home I grabbed the package and saw that it was completely sliced open and stuff inside (pokemon cards) were gone I do have an outdoor security cam pointed at mail box so nobody touched it since the USPS employee dropped it off. So I'm just curious what to do since this has never happened to me before I tried googling online and people say to just do a inad and just let seller deal with USPS but figured I would pop on the message board and ask other people...

Thank you in advance for help

@colli.wals

If the package was insured, contact the seller to advise him of the theft, so that a claim can be started with USPS.

How was the item shipped...and postage was how much? Bubble mailer is considered a parcel and needs parcel postage...key word "bubble"...was that name on outside of envelope?

This was not an eBay shipping envelope...correct?

If its a parcel I don't know why it was sliced open.

I have had a returned where envelope was sliced opened and returned to me...taped...but that was from Israel....and valuables were still inside.

Usually envelope would be re-taped if it was USPS or another country.

I got a post card...half of it in a plastic bag from Iceland also.

I don't think USPS had anything to do with this.

Did this seller have great feedback and been around awhile?

The seller put 2 cards inside the total cost was $20

Us postage cost was $3.81

It was shipped as USPS ground advantage with label on it

And yeah it was weird cause I brought it inside my home and I'm like this feels very light and I hoped the seller put the cards in a top loader but when I turned the bubble mailer around on back side I noticed a slit and when I looked at it more I then saw a 4 inch small slit on side of of it and notbingninside of my package (bubble mailer)

If it was delivered like that, the carrier should have put a note on the package, then you could file an INAD.

If it was stolen after delivery, not much you can do but file mail theft and a police report.

Have a great day.

I'm with @kensgiftshop on this one. When a. package arrives damaged, the post office stamps it as damaged and puts it into a clear plastic envelope.  I've never known USPS to deliver and unmarked and damaged or empty item.

It sounds like it happened after delivery so I think you should speak to your carrier to verify that the package was intact at delivery. Then file a police report and have your local p.d. look at the tapes.

It wasn't stolen after delivery I went through my video feed from when the package was delivered by USPS and when I got home and grabbed the package and nobody touched it or even came near my mailbox

I think you have a problem that I have a hard time believing. USPS would never deliver an empty package and it looks like it's not the first time you've received damaged bubble mailers.

If you aren't willing to contact your local postmaster, I hope the seller does! USPS takes postal theft seriously as it's a federal crime to tamper with mail.

should have is the key variable here.

For a fact it does not always happen.

Small bubble envelope, being light on contents, could have easily gone unnoticed.

OP would have to get with USPS to see if it could be determined where along the way during the scanning the weight of that item changed.

Yeah the package weight it says was only 1 oz on it for 2 pokemon card  and it was slit on the side of mailer not and not the top of mailer so without paying close attention to it it's very hard to notice took me until i walked up my driveway that i saw it was slit open on side... Hopefully the seller contacts me and I will try going to post office to deal with issue of seeing it weight was off at any of the stops

What USPS should do, and what USPS does do can vary.

This would not have fit into one of the plastic bags, but it was not even stamped noting any damage.

I'm quite certain that the carrier did not do this between the PO, and my house.

I remember mailing something a few weeks ago and buyer said I forgot to seal it...He said contents were still in there...I sell stamps. Amazing.

I would be suspicious of the seller.

Strange, I have sold 4 trading cards in a standard envelope through USPS for .66 without a problem.

If I use a bubble mailer it will cost me about $4-5 bucks.

Doesn't sound like an experienced seller....Just my own thoughts.
