I sold a Christian Dior Suit to a Buyer, who I thought lived in the US. His mailing address was Delaware. I just got a message from him requesting a partial refund because of flaws in the suit- Usually I would just say ask him to request a return, but he said he lived in Russia and couldn't ask for a return because he had the suit Drop Shipped. The Pictures he sent me of the damage were questionable, because I completely examined all the seams - all in tact, and a pic of hole of the cuff which was blown way out. He wants $55 because for repairs, that leaves me with $20. I would love to just tell him to ask for a return request and if he refuses - have Ebay step in. Why doesn't he just Drop Ship it back to Delaware - I would be happy with paying the $9.00 for shipping he initially paid.

Thanks - that's what I was thinking! I don't know if he does this with other purchases - he's buying high end and maybe reselling them in Russia. I will give it a Try. umoraski

For what he's asking I would just tell him to return it. Offer him $10.00 and see what he says.

what I have done in the past is to just send some of the buyers payment back to them
if you refund him 25 for the suit that gives him something to think about for a day maybe
if they decide to return it you already gave them 25 back so you just refund the remainder when the item gets returned
thats why I like to do partial refunds from the payment.then you dont lose that 25 for a return

I"d blame it on the reshipper. Get your refund from them.

He had you ship the suit to a freight forwarder, not drop shipped.
AFAIK, the seller's responsibility for any issues ends when the package arrives at the freight forwarder's address.

Your buyer is not covered by the eBay MBG, and is not eligible for a return, whether from abroad nor a domestic return from the freight forwarder. They have written an eBay Message, the only form of affirmation which eBay will accept, that they used a freight forwarder. The policy says:
If the buyer opens a case @umoraski and you contact eBay to review the buyer's message, eBay will close the case with no refund.

eBay will close the case with no refund.
Unfortunately that isn't how it works anymore.
There is no proof ebay will accept that you have sent something to a freight forwarder for freight forwarding anymore.
So you're "protected" but you can't ever use that protection because you can't prove anything.

You are not obligated in any way to refund this customer. I went through something very similar. Sent a product to a US address. Buyers final destination was in Honduras and the US address was a freight forwarder location. He claimed we sent him something completely different and filed a dispute. We had him admit that he had the package shipped to a freight forwarder within ebay messages (as recommended by ebay directly) and that voided any protection he had. We got our money back. It appears your buyer already admitted that he used a forwarder. Contact ebay and let them know what's and they will review the circumstance and ensure you are protected. They will remove any negative feedback and will make sure the buyer does not try to rip you off and get his money back through a dispute. As long as you have confirmed tracking to the original provided destination address, you should be good to go.

Yeah, leave it to the buyer to tell you.
One of the most useless policies besides the MBG not applying to items that are as described.
They would certainly be happy to review nothing because that's what you can offer them if your buyer has more than a hamster wheel for a brain.

In his messages this buyer admitted he used a Freight Forwarding service, so this is why he couldn’t request a return. I didn’t understand that at first. He also admitted that shipping to Russia was too expensive. I reported this buyer to EBay so they will go into my messages and see his statements.
