12 years with no returns..now a buyers remorse return.."does not fit"?

Have not posted much in a while on here but now is the time for any feedback from community I can get. Been selling on here pretty regularly for around 12 years. So I have my first return on its way back to me now (I realize I am probably blessed this is the first) however to a perfectionist artist like me it still stings some especially when this buyers remorse - does not fit is involved with a piece of art that was clearly marked in the item specs and description as to what they would pay for and get.

I get it that I offer buyer paid 30 day returns and as long as I get back what i sent them undamaged that I will give payment back.  I have called eBay 3 times about this and have been told it is buyer remorse..its not an item not as described but I have read where this actually could be one in disguise?

The buyers intentions seem to have thrown a red flag up to me and I think also to eBay staff but who knows. After they received item I got message that this was too small of painting and they were looking for a 12x20. They also stated they thought 8x10 was much larger. I offered a print to be made for them in a new listing and the next thing they open return case. They also later made statements about Thank you we will enjoy the 8x10 so I messaged asking if they were keeping art ? Then they said they were sending the small one back? So bottom line I am trying to see what I may need to do if package does not have original painting in it that they paid for and also what I may want to change in my settings as far as things that can be checked or filtered out to my advantage against this since my return rate is like 1.4 percent now and not sure what all else is going to dinged on my side. Also they are asking for 12.90 back when I do not believe thats what they paid for the item?

Anyone gone through this with art could maybe help the most but I would like to hear on other cases also.

Thanks

Buyer was looking for at least a 12x20 and bought my 8x10 that was clearly stated in the item specs and description. They thought 8x10 was much larger. I offered to make a print available in 16x20 size for them.  After return was started they said..Thank you so very much we will enjoy the 8x10? So at that point I was totally confused! But anyhow the package will be back here in a couple days.

12 years and no returns? What do you have 12 sales in that time?

Do don't do anything but eat it, unfortunately. There is pretty much nothing you can do to prevent returns from a buyer that really wants to return.

Did not fit could be the size was not as stated too.

But with an ebay return if that is what is chosen and the op put in quotes as the reason the buyer chose it's a remorse return.

I have quite a few total sales. I was thinking more about items that can be checked or unchecked in your preferences but now that I looked at that page.. I don't really think it would matter unless you sell hundreds of items a week!Screen Shot 2021-07-29 at 9.59.13 AM.png

It doesn't really matter anyway because all buyers can get out of paying return shipping and return all items regardless of return policy.

Re: 12 years with no returns..now a buyers remorse return.."does not fit"?

Well sad news on the return package..I knew I had a bad feeling from the beginning about this item coming back. Mail man stopped out front I went got some mail but no package for me..I said well supposed to be out for delivery and anyhow I went back inside and 30 seconds later I hear doorbell so I go back out and sure enough he has a mail tube addressed to me. Sad news is it was smashed flatter than a pancake and one of the end caps was completely missing.

So I videoed him handing me the package and talking but I don't think even doing that is going to change anything. Took inside pulled out the plastic sleeve and the painting (which it is the original painting) just totally bent in 3 huge creases...totally ruined and no way to sell now.

Took 9 days for package to get to me. Obviously damaged beyond use. Now what?

Re: 12 years with no returns..now a buyers remorse return.."does not fit"?

Today (07/30/21) I was forced to approve the refund for such a buyer. I sold an 18k gold link for a Cartier watch. It was stated in both the title and description as being 15mm. The listing stated I'll accept returns within 30 days, if contacted within 14 days for a return number, and that a 25% restocking fee would be deducted. The stated return reason can ONLY be NASD, or damaged in transit. This was ALL clearly spelled out in the item description.

The buyer asked for a return/refund because it "looks too big". He sent a photo showing the link, still in it's factory sealed container, next to (not even on top of) his watch. The item I sent obviously wasn't damaged during transit. I wrote him, saying that failing to order the size he needs wasn't a covered reason for returning. He asked me to send an exchange. I told him that I couldn't offer that, as it was the only size I have/had.

eBay automatically accepted the return. I protested to "support", and was told I'd be paid, if I waited 3 days and escalated the protest, for them to jump in. The next day I got notice that the buyer printed a return label they sent him. I again called to protest. their answer was essentially the same. Wait 2 more days.

So, I waited. Before those next 2 days had passed, I got notice that it had been mailed. I again called support to protest, and they said there wasn't anything they could do, as the item was on it's way back to me.

It arrived to me around 5:30p, the day before yesterday. eBay had said I'd only have 2 days to approve the refund, or they would do it automatically. As a disabled man who does not drive, and downsizing my personal estate, I couldn't get to a jeweler to be sure the packaging hadn't been steamed open somehow, and the contents replaced with a cheap fake.

eBay has ALSO had my account payments frozen since my first complaint. There is another item that I sold, delivered, and have had no issues with, except that eBay has not paid me in full what they owe me, for that transaction. They refused to release payment for that transaction.

The bottom line is that if I want to get the money they owe me for a totally separate transaction, or any others, I HAD to comply. The only plus to this is that I can still sell the watch link, though I will probably do that on another site.

I'll come update this if any other issues arise. I'm expecting them to pay me the day after tomorrow.

Re: 12 years with no returns..now a buyers remorse return.."does not fit"?

Sounds like a messed up deal there.

Cannot make a claim with USPS because I am almost positive eBay does not insure a label they send buyer for a return and not sure how that would work anyhow. I do not insure packages less than x amount of dollars..so my bad there I guess.

I am wondering at what point the package was destroyed? Probably never know for sure but you would think at some point someone would say something..but hey I guess it speaks for USPS also..and hey it's delivered!

I don't know if USPS would accept a package to send..looking like this..but if they delivered it which they did makes me really wonder?
