Welcome to the weekly chat everyone! I hope your 4th of July was bright and amazing! Looking forward to discussing whatever is on your mind this afternoon 🙂

The chat is now open!

I got pulled back into a Old Beta test , that  has all sellers items BIN's as IMPR  and forced to use the  check out  cart  to request total . I don't why ebay has not junked the old program.  I want out of it

Hi @carlmarxx - We tested this a ways back but have recently made changes to help in our efforts of reducing Unpaid Item cases. There isn't an option to opt out of this feature but I encourage you to have your buyers use the cart and ensure your combined shipping rules are set up so that it's automatically being combined for your buyer.

The cart has proven to be a bone of contention for sellers.  Posts have continued to show up proving that the cart and combined shipping do not work hand in hand. It's a failed system. Ebay reps   Ignoring that this problem exists does not help matters.

@do.you.read.me - We certainly aren't ignoring the contention that's being brought up and as mentioned, we are sharing this feedback with those who need to see it. I apologize if you feel you haven't been heard and please know that I'll personally bring this up.

Trinton asked for specific examples, I posted many. I  was ignored.

NOW, it has change and the exact opposite is true, not answering a message, the bots may take action because they may interpret that as a sign.... did I miss an announcement or does this seem very unfair to those who got hit by the bots when the rules of the game suddenly changed?

There are posts from seller accounts that say they got a suspension simply because they got these ebay messages from buyers.  Maybe it takes "more than one" to earn you the
VACATION.  We, as regular sellers and board helpers to not know.

The idea of "good communication"  was a "good selling practice" seems to have gone south.  Answer (or not) at your own risk.

Thank you. That time in the phone I was transferred several times before getting the "special team" who handles this new area of sales off of ebay. I finally spoke to a supervisor who was able to see right away that the set of three tables was clearly sold and paid for on eBay. The CSR agent on that team that I spoke to first was clueless. He insisted that we ended the item early, we did not. That listing expired on its own and we relisted it. The supervisor was able to see that as well as the subsequent sale on eBay.

It really is betting frustrating. Instead of being mistreated, accused and abused by ebay, what should be happy with us as a seller. We go out of our way to drive traffic TO EBay through social media, I even have a website where all my pages have links to corresponding pages on eBay (we do not sell on the website)

I'm glad to hear that it was eventually taken care of, but there are clearly gaps that exist and should be addressed. I sent you a request for a bit more information - looking forward to your reply!

When I receive a question from a potential buyer and I choose to answer by using the offer button, I cannot find any record of my message or offer after it's sent.

There are times I want to go back to see my response or what offer I sent but where did it go?

Hey @fern*wood - you should be able to keep track of the private offer as a regular offer, and that should include the messaging. We tested it and were able to see the message too!

My eBay>Selling/Listings/Active>Review my offers (usually in drop down menu under More Actions).

Thanks for testing this but I am still unclear as to where to find this.  The items I do this on are fixed price with no offers accepted.

Happy to share some screenshots to help with navigating to this option:

You can get to your "All Selling" page by clicking this link: http://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK%3AME...

From there, any listings with offer messages will have a "Review all offers" option listed above the "More actions" dropdown. Below is an example:

review all offers.JPG

From there, the next page will have all of your messages on the left hand side of the page.

Hope this helps!

Is something technical wrong with the number of views on a listing?

About 30% of my current listings have turned to 0 views.

I know theres at least 1-2 views when I finish listing.

1 view because I look at every listing after making it active.

Now close to 100 have no  (0) views on items listed which had views this morning.

Thanks for letting us know, @krazzykats! We'll have this reported and will be in touch via email if we need any additional information. slight_smile

What about eBay shipping labels not updating . I have had at least 8 not update and some not showing delivery but when you go to USPS all is just THERE and correct. How is eBay going to sure up their system to update correctly when my TRS is on the line.
aswe

Our system generally updates within 72 hours as we get our info from the courier site for USPS. If there is any kind of issue that leads to a loss of Top Rated Seller Status, we can review the info from USPS and get this manually resolved for you.

I apologize if there was an indicator that you were ignored when you provided suggestions. I have passed along examples and discussed this at length with the appropriate teams. If I did not update you then I am very sorry!

Hello Alan, Trinton, Heidi, Tyler.

Been awhile since I was available to participate in the weekly chat so I don't even remember the things I was gonna ask, sad sad, however, I do have a question that's been concerning me as of late.

I've had a few people (from different countries, not sure if this is important or not, different policies etc) who have been sending me their addresses in messages asking me what I would charge for shipping. The reason this concerns me is I don't want to be caught in some crossfire on the matter. I do respond to the messages informing them that I only ship internationally through the GSP and I do not yield any information, links, numbers, addresses, emails, et cetera, but I still get worried with how drastically unreliable the bots can be that someone sending me their address or contact information might somehow have a negative effect on me.

I do not ask for contact information and even before the new policies went in and the bots started going crazy on people for giving phone numbers I refused to utilize contact information given to me, people sending me phone numbers to which I would immediately respond that I do not contact outside of eBay, as I want my own paper trail in the event something bad happens in regard to any of those transactions.

So basically my main inquiry here is as long as I don't respond in kind, do people sending me contact info or addresses have any potential to negatively impact me, who refuses to have anything to do with said contact information?

Thanks, and Happy Belated 4th to you all, firework smoke has me feeling super icky today but it was a great Independence Day regardless.

Hey @bigmotormania - fair question! As long as it's clear from your messages that you don't intend to to take the transaction off-site, you should be fine. It sounds like you're already doing exactly what we'd suggest: responding with statements that you ship through GSP or that you keep all communication on eBay.

To your specific question: don't let those messages go unaddressed, respond and let them know that you ship only through GSP. Bots could take action if an address is sent and then for an unrelated reason the listing is ended, with no messaging between you. We would see that as an indicator the transaction is taken off eBay.

Some time ago I remember being told answering a message with information that could be used to  take a sale off ebay was a sign of complicity, NOW, it has change and the exact opposite is true, not answering a message, the bots may take action because they may interpret that as a sign.... did I miss an announcement or does this seem very unfair to those who got hit by the bots when the rules of the game suddenly changed?

I can't think of a situation where we would see a message responding to an offer of outside sales with a statement that you won't do so as 'complicit'. We haven't stated that a reply to messages is mandatory and so no announcement was made. My suggestion was to make it as plain as possible to avoid having the bots tag things for review. Thanks for the opportunity to clarify!

I am curious why eBay doesn't display a seller's handlign time unless it's more than 4 days.

On Monday alone there were 2 different threads - one from a buyer; one from a seller.

The seller received a message over the weekend from their buyer who purchased on Thursday and was wondering why the item hadn't posted yet and wanted a refund.  The seller had a 2 day handling time and wasn't required to even ship it until Monday.

The buyer wondered why their seller hadn't marked the item shipped yet and given tracking after a day.  They were upset.  If the seller had a 2 or 3 day handling time, they (or we) wouldn't know.

These situations could be so easily handling if the sellers' handling times were posted on the listing - like they used to be.  It would save grief for the buyer and seller alike.

These were not isolated posts.  We see a lot like this that could often be easily answered (or simply not asked) if the information was provided.

Hi @lintbrush* - I just ran some searches and see exactly what you're saying. On certain listings the handling time is stated, on others it has been rolled into the estimated delivery date, but not necessarily stipulated when to expect a tracking number.

I am not sure if this is a test or a roll-out change. I completely see how that would lead to poor experiences all around. I'll see what more I can find out and update you as I get info.

Thank you Tyler.

I recall more of the buyer's post.  They stated the paid for Expedited/Priority Mail shipping and that a day had passed and it hadn't shipped.  The board replies tried to explain the Priority was only the shipping method and had nothing to do with the handling time.

eBay used to show the selected handling time in all listings.  Then they stopped showing it for 1 day handling but did for 2 or more.  Now it seems to be 4 or more.

Buyers shouldn't have to do math... 'hmmm well the delivery time is in 5-7 days so that means that the seller might have a 2 or 3 day handling time...'

eBay gives the seller an option to pick handling times.  eBay should transparent and show that selected time to the buyer.  Smiley Happy  They show everything else relating to options.

@lintbrush* - agreed, particularly when the education about handling time being rolled into estimated delivery is in such a tiny font, as an asterisk. One ask for you: will you tag me in 2 or 3 threads on this so I can pull that information and use it in the business case to change back? Thanks!
