How is it fair for eBay to punish sellers for returns when eBay goes out of their way to hide our descriptions on the mobile site and app?  The more I think about it service metrics is less of a scam perpetrated by eBay and is borderline fraud.  Why does eBay continue to threaten sellers with service metrics SNAD penalties when eBay appears to be intentionally setting us up for failure?  Am I really expected to be able to describe my items solely by the 80 character limit on the title?

eBay does have huge issues with sellers selling reprinted (or RP) sports cards that are counterfeited, unauthorized copies.  The volume I guess is too overwhelming for eBay.

With big issues, I think about starting small.  So let’s take one common counterfeited card on eBay, a ”Patrick Mahomes Cracked Ice Auto” # 20 of 25.  All # 20 of 25.   Note I have an email dated August 4 th from Vineet J. at eBay Trust and Safety where eBay agrees that these are counterfeits.

eBay should know that 83 of just this one counterfeit card has sold on eBay since August 4 th.   A worthless counterfeit sold 83 times in one month, and 14 of those sold for more than $ 100.00.

You say that members should report counterfeits or listings that violate eBay policy., but I have.

  1. Three weeks ago, I reported all instances of the Mahomes Cracked Ice Auto counterfeits
  2. Two weeks ago, I reported all instances of the Mahomes Cracked Ice Auto counterfeits
  3. One week ago, I reported all instances of the Mahomes Cracked Ice Auto counterfeits

Each time I reported 24 to 28 listings.  And this is for an item that on August 4 th eBay themselves stated they agreed was a counterfeit.  What more needs to be done?  Is this what taken seriously looks like? Is this what eBay compliance office and eBay’s legal team deem acceptable?  Change needs to happen.

I have raised this question on one of the threads regarding the new returns policy going into place this month, but I still need clarification on this question:

I have been utilizing the “require RMA” to put a stop to a return label being immediately issued. Is that still going to be honored? I have some items that I may choose to refund without a return depending on the individual situation. Or the buyer has jumped the gun saying there is an issue with the item and with a little bit of communication everything is fine. If eBay is going to issue labels without any input from the seller, eBay should be willing to eat the cost of those return labels themselves.

With the way eBay treats returns in general I get the impression that they don't want successful sales.  I used to have less problems with returns when there was an incentive for buyers to work things out.

Just for the record, this is NOT a New Return Policy for everyone.  The only people that didn't have this policy were those in MP prior to July.  The automated returns have been a fact of life for everyone else since 2018.

Adding on to @glgenterprise  :

Last Friday eBay sent an announcement to Managed Payments sellers about automation changes being made to the returns process.

Three questions:

1) Will sellers still be able to provide RMA numbers prior to eBay automatically issuing a shipping label to the buyer?

2) Will sellers still be able to provide their own return shipping labels? We sell heavy and large items. eBay frequently offers their USPS labels for these types of returns but they are not a good solution: eBay's labels are not insured, they are typically much more expensive than the transaction's original shipping cost and the rates we get through other carriers.

3) If eBay automates all seller inputs for most returns, what happens with the partial refund process or when sellers wish to refund the buyer and not require the item to be shipped back?

Thanks

Hi @justsc92 - thank you for taking time to report items you feel are not authentic. As you know, eBay does not allow the sale of counterfeits or unauthorized copies (link here).

While we don't discuss action that is taken on other member's accounts, we do hold members accountable for violating our policies up to and including account suspension. Just because you are not able to see the action that was taken does not mean that nothing was done.

I will request a further review of the specific example you have provided. Thanks!

I was a July convert to MP - so this is not new policy to me per say - but I want clarification on whether the RMA work around is still going to work. It's not an unreasonable question.

I noticed the $25 coupon I got said it's not good for auctions and best offers. I've never seen that restriction before, so just wanted to confirm that's correct. And if so, why?

@gwzcomps mobile screens have limited display space on their smaller screens so we focus on showing buyers a portion of listing descriptions to help them know what they are buying. Sellers can choose what appears in the item description summary (up to 800 characters) by following these steps. The option to view the full description is available to all buyers in the mobile app by clicking on the description field.

And to add onto @carlsqsportscards -

What was the criteria for this magical $25 coupon. I have 3 different accounts of differing ages and activities - none of which have gotten this coupon?

TECHNICAL ISSUE

When I click on a sold item in Sellers Hub I get a vacation hold notice.  My store is not on a vacation hold.
