I know I am not alone but is there anything I can do to be more successful logging into the community area.

It seems to take numerous tries.  Stand on head, count to 10 .. log out of ebay, log back in... look at helps, check the mail icon.. spin around 10 times, chant, run around the office, go for a cup of tea,  quote from the declaration of Inpendence, log in again, get the community area scrolling photos 10 times.

Log back in

SUCCESS!!

Ok, maybe that was an exaggeration and perhaps you are trying to keep us working on other things, but my goodness what a lot of trouble.

@golfingaddictI have a hard time signing in every day too 😞  This was reported to Khoros and they did a lot of investigating on their end. They discovered that the sign in issues is actually something on eBays end, so our tech teams have been working to get it resolved.

Hi brian@ebay

Is there any update about the Promoted Listings quarterly credit possibly going away? @my-cottage-books-and-antiques  brought it up in last week's chat but I haven't see any further information since then.

Hi @valueaddedresource - not yet (my email is playing pingpong with a few different teams), but I will make sure to keep you and @my-cottage-books-and-antiques updated when I hear back definitively. 🙂

Would it be possible to post your update here in Chat?  I am also following this topic for an answer.  Thank You!

I know this is a Managed Payment issue, but if my feedback on this could get passed on:

I've twice in the last month had to go through hoops to get a partial refund to buyers who have opened a SNAD claim, but eventually settle for a small partial refund. Before MP, I had the ability to offer a partial refund in the return process. That is not an option in MP, and requires a call to customer service. Which then results in a "closed without seller resolution", which then requires YET ANOTHER call to CS to have them review the messages and remove the defect.

I've been told by reps that this is a known problem. This is a real, substantial issue that will only get worse as more and more sellers get enrolled in MP if this option cannot get added to the return flow on MP.

@glgenterprise I'll pass this feedback along. Thank you!

Issue is postal distribution of media mail.

I recently experienced a significant issue in Buffalo with media mail not scanning, some missorting and some traveling quite a distance before scans were initiated.

Is ebay still protecting sellers metrics and feedback in situations like this?

Thanks

two things 1. Sing In to community still is broken...took me 15 min to sing in just now. 2. there is no reason sellers shouldn't be able to view who is following us... restore the link option so we can view our followers!

Re: Community Chat, October 28 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

Hello! I inquired in last week's chat as to whether used fragrances are really being banned from the Fragrances category or not. I'm still waiting for an official answer, but in the meantime I also wanted to ask about a loophole that I noticed the other day.  If a seller lists a used fragrance in the Vanity, Perfume, and Shaving subcategory under Collectibles, he or she can ALSO get the listing cross-posted to the Fragrances category by simply paying 25 cents extra to have the listing appear in that second category.  Is that an intentional or unintentional loophole?

If eBay really doesn't want used fragrances to be listed in the Fragrances category, then the computer system ought to be programmed so that it prevents sellers from selecting Fragrances as a second category if the item condition is listed as "used."

My second part of the INR case is this.

Buyer opens a claim for INR.  I provide tracking and waited to see if the PO would deliver it in the three days I had to resolve on my own.

Sure enough, the package got delivered.  I called Support to ask them to close the case which I was told they would.  I hung up and looked at it again and there was still a hold on my money AND it was saying that it was open until the buyer acknowledged that they received the item.

Thinking this was odd, I called back to support and asked them why it was not closed (proved delivered.. I thought that was the end of it)  The customer support rep told me that in the Fall Update, they changed it and ebay no longer accepted the delivery (USPS tracking.. this was under $25) as proof of delivery and the buyer had to tell them that the item was delivered before the case was closed.

I have not heard this before so I asked the CSR to provide where in the Update this was announced so that I could read about it.  He said he had to ask a manager.  He came back and said it was so new that it wasn't in the updates yet and he would let me know.

For what it is worth, the seller protection information in the help section still says a seller is protected if an item shows delivery confirmation under the $750 (I think) and for a $25 item, proof of delivery is delivery scan showing delivery to the buyers address.

Brian (or other ebay staff) What is the CSR talking about? What change? What update?

My INR case did not close but it did show it was waiting for buyer approval?

(the money was not the big deal but a policy change to the seller protection INR is a pretty big deal and I'd like more information about that) thank you.

Hi @golfingaddict - you were given inaccurate information, I will follow up with the team you spoke with.

What the teammate may have been trying to explain is that in a situation where we can tell an item has been delivered we will automatically close the case out after a 24 hour 'holding' period. This is specifically to save you time, so that you do not need to call in to request a manual closure. An INR that is within that 24 hour holding period cannot be manually closed by a teammate, which may be why you didn't see it change after you hung up with them.

Thanks!

Re: Community Chat, October 28 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

I honestly don't understand why Ebay thinks this is a good idea or fair to the sellers.  It is such a risk any time any seller asks Ebay to step in.  The threads are full of them from time to time where they are told one thing by a CSR but in application that isn't what happens and they get a defect on their account and lose money to boot.

I think Ebay can do better than this and I think they should.

My experience has been... ask eBay to step in = automatic siding with the buyer.  I stopped trying a while ago.

And a non-MP question, that I think I've asked before -

Is there any possibility of adding the option for store holders to add store categories mid-listing? When I am going through a whole section of listings, it is a pain to have to save the listing, add a store category, and then re-open the listing to get the new store category to populate. It would be one thing to just leave the field and come back, but the new categories will not populate unless you close and re-open the listing. It's time consuming and seems like it should be a reasonable ask to have fixed.

@glgenterprise that's a reasonable ask and would speed up the process for sure. My understanding is that we don't have any updates planned for Stores, and I imagine this would need some sort of update related to Stores. However, I can pass along this feedback to see if the option can be added to the listing flow. Thanks!

We look forward to onboarding with Managed Payments. Is there a way to move that forward sooner?

Thanks,

Hi @borntodeal - glad to hear that you're excited for managed payments! The plan right now is to have the majority of sellers in managed payments by 2021. Hang in there and keep an eye on your eBay inbox for the notification email. It'll be here before you know it!

@georgestobbard yes, the policy is that used fragrances aren't allowed on our site. What you've described does sound like a loophole that needs to be corrected. Items that violate this policy can be reported through the 'report item' option on the listing. The Collectables > Vanity, Perfume, and Shaving category is not intended for used cosmetics or fragrances. An collectable empty perfume bottle may be listed there though.
