Are you considering making this rollout optional? I understand the original plan was to insist we all eventually do it. But as a small seller, this mini run shows it would significantly increase the amount of work in accounting and cash flow on my end. Far and above what the savings would be per the calculator. $3 saved a month is not worth it at an extra 4 hours worth of work a month or 1 extra hour per week. Thats a very low estimate and does not include setup time or taxes. Just for the time factor, I would prefer to keep paypal permanently managing my money.
The roll out or launch WAS optional and still is optional. The launch has already happened. It is my understanding that more sellers will enter later next year after PP is accepted in the program. This is a 3+ year roll out. It isn't going to be manditory for quite a while yet. I hope that helps.

So from your link the seller Danny is saying best Sept 29th & 30th ever
I wonder why/how this can be.
How does being in the ebay managed payments improve one's sales ?
Are they being offered better match in search ?
It is an odd statement/Post to think sales would improve that much just by switching to Ayden .

second question....
if someone has a paypal credit card or debit card , can they use it to pay for an item if the seller is in the managed payment program?
Hi, @theshoppingmom2, Yes, a buyer can use a PayPal credit or debit card to make purchases on managed payments. Thanks for your question.

So, when PayPal is allowed again, sellers will have to pay eBay's fees AND PayPal's fees on every sale?

So why was PayPal excluded from the initial release of Managed Payments ? PayPal made eBay into what it is today and to just abandon it seems suicidal to some of us sellers. Not really understanding why its not being brought back into play for 9 months. I'd be willing to try management payments but PayPal is a significant part of our business and my gut says no way.

For those sellers that are currently in the Managed Payments program, but did not realize that the program, in it's current form does not allow for PP payments, is Ebay allowing these sellers to exit the program if they are being significantly harmed by the inability to take PP at this time?
I know that Ebay had said if you opt in you can't opt out. But clearly from some of the chatter on the threads there were some sellers that did not educate themselves on what the program offered and didn't offer before opting in. I do understand that they should have, but the fact is some just did not.
Is Ebay allowing these sellers to get out if they can show they are harmed by this? I'm just curious as to what Ebay's position is on this.
Hi @mam98031, we understand that every situation is unique, and we have developed a path for sellers to flag any issues or raise concerns with our Customer Support team to determine the best path forward for their business.

I'm in managed payments and beyond the first two days, buyers haven't had an issue with this. All I did was explain to them that I opted into eBay's new payment plan that will eventually roll out site wide in a few years. I let them know it's no different than buying on Target online and assure them that they are buying from eBay and the site it secure.
I had five buyers message me. the first two didn't buy and I lost two $12 sales but the next three did....a $50 sale and two that were over $100.
Give buyers a chance, this is no different than buying online from anyother trusted site.

So, the short answer is NO, sellers are stuck regardless.

Hi @annasunicorns, we are moving to a future where we will manage payments for all sellers on our platform. As sellers transition to our new payments experience, they will benefit from further product improvements and innovations. We are actively improving and simplifying some of the current accounting / reconcilliation effort for sellers. Also, Paypal as a form of payment will be added on by the summer of 2019.

Could you please explain the return and chargeback process. I have noticed a delay in processing and a delay in charges to the account. Will those fees and amounts be shown on a desperate line item in the monthly invoice? I am looking ahead to reconciliation at the end of the year
Hi @golfingaddict, if you have a specific question around returns / chargeback, best to call our dedicated customer support line and they will review any account specific details and walk you through the process. You can reach them at 18004563229.

Actually, the latest response appears to be Yes, they will allow a seller to back out if all else fails (in terms of persuading them to stay):
Q: What are my options if managed payments isn't right for my business now?
A: We are working with sellers one-on-one to understand whether managed payments is a fit for them. If managed payments doesn't work for a seller, we want to work with them to see if we can help them be successful with the changes, ensure we understand and document what isn't working, and if needed revert their account to the prior state. That said, the process to revert accounts to their prior payment settings can be complex as orders and listings can be in different states, and this process needs to be managed individually with each seller.

I'm not positive, but I think that if your PP debit card is a MC or Visa, that should work under the rules of CC use. Being attached to PP could be an issues, but shouldn't.
10-24-2018 01:35 PM
Vikas answered this a couple posts back. If someone is using a PP debit card or credit card, it can be used just like any other debit card or credit card in the Managed Payment program.

As the managed payments program becomes manditory, will ebay give sellers a notice of any sort before their enrollment, or will a seller just wake up one day and be in for good?
Has ebay done anything to alert prospective buyers that PayPal is not accepted by those sellers in the managed payments program, or do buyers still only find out at checkout?
Hi @ittybitnot, currently participation into managed payments is by invitation only, and for those sellers who choose to be part of the program. Eventually, we will manage the transition into managed payments with notice and education/support for our sellers.
Buyers are being educated on the payment options, including those listings that don’t offer PayPal, via automated messaging in Message Center, during the checkout process, and can now scan their credit card in the iOS app.
