and hello to you, lan.
The tidbit about the 3:22 Pm auto save in a 1:00 to 2:00 PM ongoing chat wa sadded as a coincidental exampl. Overall, absolutely has no impact on my selling habits.
But the PST and non PST is distracting being so erratic.
I would just like "teams' to think about how it directly touches the premance standards ebay measures.

Does ebay ever have any time frame to release more information about how our "peer groups" are formed in the service metrics? As sellers we have been requesting this since its inspection and I think it is fair to see how the system works.

Hello. I am thrilled to participate in the chat. I have been checking out the conversations every week. I have been impressed with the caliber of information , along with having it presented in clear informed manner.

As I am NOT in pacific time, it can be challenge to be here real time.

And that is topic of my question....

Why oh why won't all areas of ebays site function with time zone specific references to date and time.

When I create shipping labels via Buy Delivery, the time is current to my location. When tracking scan are uploaded, again, current to my zone (even when delivery scan is in zone that is not mine).

Can we get all selling functions to be cohesive on timelines?

Not only have I had some listing gaffs from being muddled about actual time, but even just now, I noticed this reply Auto saved with a message at top of my screen that informed me it occurred at 3:22 PM.

I agree that there's a rather extensive amount of inconsistency in how times are shown on the site. In particular, ending times are shown in different time zones, mostly (but not always) Pacific time, and mostly (but not always) showing the time zone for clarity. Unfortunately, if I'm looking at a simple "8:00 p.m." for example, I don't know if that's supposed to be 8:00 p.m. Pacific or 8:00 p.m. Central (my own time zone).

In anticipation of someone here requesting a specific listing, take a look at listing 362877034588 (from another seller), and add it to your Watched Items list. Now look at your Watch List, and you should see it marked as "Thursday 06.00 PM" (with no time zone). Click on that listing to open it up, and there it will show (for me in the Central time zone) "Thursday 8:00PM" (again with no time zone). We need to see more consistency in how times are presented to the user.

When and if will we get request combined shipping total options for the app? As a buyer to request? Most of my customers are mobile, which means they buy and I have to do shipping refunds because they can’t request totals from their mobile devices. That’s just ONE example of how we have to go back and forth between the app and website on our devices. We’re often told by ebay that the reason for some of their new features or changes are because “people on the internet expect that,” so I’m wondering why ebay doesn’t think people on the internet expect the app to be fully functional? Will the app ever be functional enough that we don’t have to go back and forth between it & the website? Navigating your site without a mouse is very frustrating. (Like no way to rearrange photos from the website via ipad.)

Hi @krys888 - this is an enhancement that the mobile team are aware of, though there is not currently an announced release date for it. I agree that it would be great to be able to do everything directly from the app, and that's definitely something that we're working towards!

When you change an item from Fixed Price to Auction, the Fixed Price becomes the Buy it Now price, which means Best Offer is illegal. Could the system please TURN OFF Best Offer in this situation?
Also, the default Auction length is 7 days. I want it to be 10 days. Is there any way I can make that happen automatically?

Hi @vrykalak, can you give an item number example for this? We'll be happy to review something specific if you can provide it. As for changing the default option in the listing form, it looks like when I went to create an auction in your account the duration is defaulted to 10 days. Can you tell me where you are seeing something different?

---
Almost all of the 100 Auctions that are currently active in my account--except the ones that are specifically for Valentines Day--exhibited this problem.
When I changed them from Fixed Price to Auction, I had to change the duration from 7 to 10 days, and turn off "Best Offer" manually.

Hi @vrykalak, please provide an item number so we can review further.
------
383363782571, 383365609286, 383367149096, 383367150556, 383367152066, 383367153362, 383367154913, 383367155531, 383367156575, plus about 60 others.
The point is: I have to make those changes manually EVERY time I change a listing from Fixed Price to Auction.
The system won't let me change the duration after it has already posted as 7 days, either because I didn't change it or, (much more likely) I did change it but it changed back...which I have seen happen.
The system yells at me if I forget to turn off "Best offer" or, (much more likely) I did change it but it changed back...which I have also seen happen.

EBay pleasing themselves and adding " Best Offer " To our listings.

This is a pathetic process that EBay have just decided it's a good idea to edit our listings and add the " Best Offer " to our listings without our consent or approval.

The listings we place and set the price for is our property, It is up to us what price we would like to set for these items and if we would like to accept lower offers than the price we have set for them.

EBay adding " Best Offer " to our listing without our consent or approval is a pathetic practice that should be stopped asap.

This practice is very frustrating and very time consuming to sellers who do not wish to have " Best Offer " on their listings and have to spend time going through each listing to remove the " Best Offer " that you have added to our listings without our consent or approval, Further more it is very annoying receiving messages informing us you have added this function, and receiving messages informing us that buyers have made a offer on the items that you have added " Best Offer " without our consent or approval. This is a total waste of our time and extremely frustrating.

This is also causing frustration to buyers who think the seller is accepting Best Offers on the Item only to find when they submit a offer the seller declines the offer because they do not wish to accept offers as they have already set the price at the price they are willing to sell it for.

EBAY MUST STOP ADDING " BEST OFFER " TO OUR LISTINGS WITHOUT OUR APPROVAL OR CONSENT.

If we want to accept " Best Offer " on our listings we would add it to the listings ourselves.

Hi @merivalady, we don't currently have any plans to change how this process works. I'm happy to give some information about this feature, such as when it's added and why we add it. For new or occasional sellers, we apply Best Offer if the item is listed above the recommended price, or does not sell within 8 days.

The reason this feature is added is because we've seen an increase in sales and buyer activity on listings when this feature is active. For example, we are seeing a 10-15% increase in buyer engagement, such as placing offers, messaging etc. and a recorded 10% increase in conversion. Ultimately, our goal is to help new and/or occasional sellers increase sales.

I appreciate this answer and feel it is accurate.  While this issue does not affect me personally as a seller, I can certainly see why those that it does feel passionately about Ebay doing this.

IMHO it is not Ebay's place to do this.  Ebay is a venue.  Setting pricing is not within Ebay's job duties.  That is solely the Seller's responsibility.

I get it that Ebay stats may show an increase in sales with the use of this function.  Ebay's reaction to that should be to better educate its sellers on these facts, NOT to summarily change a seller's listing, without permission because in Ebay's viewpoint it is in the best interest of selling the listing.  Again, not Ebay's job.  That is the sellers.

This policy alienates some sellers with Ebay.  That is going to be costly too.  Ebay needs to be doing things to INCREASE trust with its sellers and this, plain and simple, does the opposite.

Hi @mam98031, while Best Offer is automatically added to some listings to help increase interest in the item, sellers do still have the ability to accept or decline offers from buyers. In this regard, eBay is not setting the price on listings as sellers still set the Buy It Now price and have control of accepting/declining offers.

Hello Brian T.,

With all due respect, I would like to ask just how does ebay decide if a listing is above the recommended price  for a, say, Japanese Edo period Soma chawan, of a Tiffany Favrille thread wrapped beaker vase, or a Hasui pre-earthquake set of 8 woodblock prints or a Barye bronze court jester?  And, there may be various reasons why these things might not be sold in less than 8 days.

Hi @gracieallen01, the recommended price is based on the average price for similar items in a listings specific category. While this feature is added automatically on some items, the seller ultimately still have control of the price they sell the item for. If the Best Offer feature is added to a listing then the seller can choose to decline an offer if it's lower than they are willing to sell the item for, or accept it if it's within a price range they are comfortable with.

Hi @a_c_green - Thanks for the example item number! While the 'root' time for eBay.com is PST, we could definitely be more consistent in displaying time zones (since we do display in your time zone for certain things).

I'll get a suggestion submitted to see about displaying time zones more consistently. Thanks!

Hi @brettyg599, there are no plans to provide more information than what has been given already. While we're aware this has been requested, we believe the details we have provided on peer group calculations are sufficient for sellers to understand that we are fairly comparing them to their peers.
