I posted this in the technical forums, but I've had two problem sales where the Shipping Rates ballooned between what the buyer saw in the cart and what was shown once they hit Pay Now. In both cases the shipping cost jumped from around $35 for the two items being purchased to over $50. The first person didn't realize until AFTER they paid and were rather upset, but I was able to work it out and refunded the difference, at a loss for me as I had to pay the FVF on the full shipping charged.
The second backed out of the payment screen and was (GASP) actually able to request an invoice from me. The invoice I received showed the inflated shipping charges. Pressing the little calculate icon next to the first shipping option opens the shipping calculator and the rates displayed after entering in reasonable dimensions and summing the weights showed values close to the original $35.
I have no idea how many sales I may have lost due to hugely incorrect shipping amounts after the buyer hit Pay Now and didn't contact me for a corrected rate.

Good afternoon Team:
New Label Printing Page - Not Good
Imagine my surprise when I got the following error message when I went to print a label today …
I was hopeful that the new label printing page had finally been shut down … but alas, it opened again on the next label I printed. The new page really has to be canned or give Sellers the option to opt OUT of it so it does not even show up. When this first came out the old page stopped working and the new page worked (and still does) horribly. In order to print labels I have to log in to PayPal because the handshake between eBay and PayPal fails every time. I did NOT have to do that with the old page so the issue is not here.
Seriously, programming is supposed to help folks do more tasks quicker, the new label page is going backwards taking LONGER to print a label. It:
- Requires more scrolling
- Has a slower refresh rate
- Does NOT bring up other shipping choices in the same order each time
- The 3 item quick list of shipping options NEVER has the other shipping choices I use, ONLY the one selected by the Buyer and then 2 other random choices (that I never use)
- Does NOT show the Seller’s shipping cost, only the amount paid after their savings and a silly, light colored, fine print statement about how much they saved … I want to see the counter rate then the discounted rate LIKE the old format.
Folks, this thing is really bad and has been tolerated for quite some time … please get rid of it …
Hi @mr_lincoln, I apologize for the trouble you are having with this new process. I recommend you provide feedback using the Tell us what you think link available at the bottom of the new shipping label page. Ultimately, as we work to provide a new and improved shipping label experience we value seller feedback and will develop tools with your suggestions and requests in mind. While opting out is not an option, you can still use the Go back to classic label printing link in the upper right corner of the page.

@selecttech wrote:Hi all
Heres a small general question for a planned upcoming vacation. Anyway to delay the two day return policy when we are on a vacation for five days? The store will be on hold but Im just trying to avoid cases and issues for buyers.
Thanks
Hi @selecttech - happy upcoming vacation!
Can you get me a bit more clarification on what you mean when you say 'two day return policy'? Are you referring to the time to issue a refund on returned items?
You can definitely alter your return policy for the duration of time while you are gone, but that would only impact items sold during that time.
Yeah my question pertains to the 2 day refund period for incoming returns.

Last week I had a question that I do not think got a clear answer:
If I have 1 day handling and an item sells today, I am expected to ship it by midnight tommorow. 1 business day.
The expected delivery date is xx/xx/2019 depending on shipping service.
If I ship the item today (basically a day earlier than expected) When is the expected delivery date.. Does it change because I ship a day early or do I get the benefit of shipping it early?
In other words is it a set expected delivery date when the buyer purchases or does it change when the seller ships. And to further clarify, if the seller ships late, does the expected delivery date change?
Thank you.

The link that you provided for the shipping rates is for the 2018 rates (still in effect until 1/27). There is only one rate for Priority Mail - Commercial for 2019
You can find those rates here:

@golfingaddict wrote:I live in Washington state and ebay is now the marketplace that is now collecting state taxes for me (thank you)
I have a couple of questions.
2. Will we get any report from ebay showing when tax is collected? (monthly would be nice)
5. Some states (your home office California for example) will make you start collecting tax if you go over certain sales dollars or transactions. Is this information available on ebay somewhere? Without going through my transactions one by one o, r playing with excel, which I dearly would love to avoid is there a way that ebay can give a report as to where/how many transactions we have had per state in a calendar year? Is ebay reporting this information state by state, seller by seller?
I guess what I want overall is more ability to process these reports in seller hub, on ebay. Is that in the works?
Thank you.
You can back into this information by going to Paypal and generating a report as I posted here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-to-find-your-transaction-history-WITH-ADDRESSES-Sales-Tax/...

This reminds me that I asked several weeks ago:
Why are the Item Specifics for different garments so different?
Some items have only three IS fields, others have 10 or more.
And the 10 or more apply equally well to the other kind of garment, they just aren't there.
The answer I got before was: well, we change things every now and then.
Not a very satisfying answer.

Thank you for your response Trinton. But you won't really be surprised if I don't hold my breath for this fix. Since I have been hearing about it for a long long time now.
But I appreciate being heard, and thank you for sending it out to the techies.
Hi @hawaiibeads, I wish I could give a more specific timeframe for a fix. I've confirmed that our tech team is working on the issue and know that both brian@ebay and myself have reported examples for investigation. It does seem that the issue is more complex than initially assumed - this is not limited to just members in Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico but also impacts some sellers in other countries (such as India) and even some sellers within the continental United States. Since this is not affecting all members in these areas, we have to first identify what is the root cause so we can put in a fix. Again, wish I could give a specific date for a fix but I hope this added context helps explain how complicated resolving the problem has proven to be.

Thank you! I missed the year. So I WAS looking at the correct chart the first time. In that case, I would still like an eBay response to my post # 6 on this thread please.

Hi @dtexley3 - I'll take a look at the thread you posted on the tech board after the chat and see what we can find out about these transactions. Thanks!
