Thanks. Though as I have stated previously in these weekly chats I fail to understand the mentality behind taking away options for people to be able to use what they prefer in leiu of trying to force new things that they may or may not want onto them.

Millions of sellers, millions of different preferences, taking away two features to add one.

Just saying.

Definitely understand where you are coming from in regards to a loss of options - our plan is to ensure that Seller Hub provides the same functionality as TurboLister and we are working on making it the central stop for all the necessary functions of your business.

I realize that this is the goal of Ebay, but I'm not sure they have ever really answered in detail how the Seller Hub is suppose to replace TL.  Will templates drop off after 90% and/or stored inactive listings?  Stuff like that.

Hey @mam98031 and @bigmotormania - While I'm not able to touch on specific details, I can say that we are continually reviewing the functionality of the tool through conversations with sellers and we work hard t build features that are most important to sellers. We've heard the request for offline storage and keeping listings beyond 90 days and I will be sure to pass this along again as a request from our community. As a reminder, using the Tell us what you think link in the upper right corner of Seller Hub will get feedback directly to our developers for future enhancements, so I strongly encourage these requests be shared there as well.

OK, so the HTTPS compliance issue is the same thing as mobile/active content compliant?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques - essentially (as far as it impacts eBay listings). It's part of a larger effort that Google is making to make their browser more secure for anyone browsing, so it impacts other websites differently, but from the scope of eBay, that's what we're looking for with your listings. 🙂

And we need google - to find items that won't come up in ebay searches.

I can pay now, so I guess all is well. I just have to pay sometimes by debit card instead of e-check. I can handle that although it is NOT as easy. I am just getting used to using a debit card at My bank. I wrote checks for years.

I am gearing up to start selling in Sept. (now probably Oct.) I want everything to be good so I don't have any problems. Otherwise, I do think IPR is good! I think it does move eBay into the 21 century. I just want to have my settings right when I start to Sell. I don't care If I have to wait a few days for payments. Although My payments were instant before.

Thank You for helping. I do have many screen shots on the windows I recieved.

I just don't like the side effects. I think eBay CS thought I was crazy, and also Pay Pal. Maybe I am older and don't like change like I used to... Smiley Wink Sugar

Sometimes!!!  Heck today I did a search of my own listings and no matter what I did I could not get a return on something I knew was there.  I typed in Burberry Touch and I only got the men's version, the women's version was a ghost.  I have no idea why it won't include the women's version in the search as it makes no sense at all.

I should also note that based on what I've been told, with TL you can import and export listings to keep on file and record that won't be deleted after 90 days, so if I come across a part I sold in the past and want to list it I don't have to completely redo the process except for taking new photos.

It has been mentioned that offline storage won't be possible for listings with the seller hub.

That would seem likely, what with ebay's addition to the UA about it's ownership of Intellectual Rights of anything listed on the site - text, plotos, etc..  Having a listing changed later on down the road for relisting might cause problems.  And, just possibly only one of the potential problems.

What exactly would I have to do to make my description or gallery compliant?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques Great question!

To see if your listings are compliant visit http://www.i-ways.net/mobile-friendly/en-us/ to check for mobile friendliness. You can also check this on the eBay site directly by visiting: http://www.ebay.com/tools/sell/mobile-friendly-test.

If you would like more information on replacing active content that you find is not compliant, visit: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/itemdescription/bestpractices.html and http://pages.ebay.com/sell/itemdescription/mobilefriendlyguidelines.html for additional details. Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong Trinton, but there is also a newer link in the listing form just to the right, above where the description appears if you go into one of your listings to revise it.

It says:  New! Mobile-Friendly Checker

If you click on that you come to a screen that has 3 tabs at the top.

  1. Mobile View
  2. Active Content
  3. Non-compliant Links

It defaults Mobile View as it is the first tab.  It then may state you are OK or it may state “Your Listing Isn’t Quite Mobile-Friendly”.  If your listing isn’t mobile ready there are 2 sections that will show up.

Image Exceeds Screen Width

Images should fit the maximum width of the screen to prevent horizontal scrolling.

Then you can click on “Fix It For Me” if you want this fixed.

And / Or

Viewport meta tag incorrectly or missing.

This tag should be included in the header for the font size in your item description to be legible on a mobile device.

Then you can click on “Fix It For Me” if you want this fixed.

Once you click on the Fix it link, the Image exceeds screen width changes to a green check mark w/ the words No Horizontal Scrolling.

If you fix the “viewport meta tag…”  It changes to a green check mark w/ Viewport Meta tag correctly set.

But unfortunately for me it SOMETIMES, when I update both options for mobile readiness, it affects the Horizontal scrolling.  It changes back to a red exclamation point, I lose the green check mark.  The pic of the phone that is on the screen also changes back to my description not fitting on the phone screen without scrolling to the right.  You’d have to scroll to see the entire description.  This is happening on a good portion of the listings I update.

Sorry this is still coming up for you! I see that @shipscript offered some assistance at this thread: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Replacing-Active-Content/bd-p/activecontent

Well you fail, the old program worked fine for us basic sellers, the sellers hub is a pain to navigate, smart thing to do, which apparently ebay likes to do it the hard way, is to run original and sellers hub. THEN when you get the bugs worked out some of us might want to use it.

so, checking 2 of my items, it says not compliant. does this mean I will need to do 200+ items one at a time to fix them?

Hi @kavi1030 - depending on precisely what needs to be corrected, then yes. If it's a matter of removing certain active content from listings, you may be able to do that in bulk with a bulk edit.

We have a great forum for help with active content here: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Replacing-Active-Content/bd-p/activecontent.

Even if I knew how to screenshot, there's nothing to shoot. My landing page shows all the things eBay thinks are actually useful, all the way to the bottom of the page, then there's nothing. The gray line of links is gone.

Did you catch the part where I said why I don't use seller hub? I wrote about this on the weekly chat some months ago. The answer was you were anaware of the problem.  Nothing but crickets since then.

Again, this is why I don't use seller hub: Mobile friendliness will only be carried along with a relist if it was created in the old format. If it was created in seller hub, you lose the mobile compliance when you relist.
