eBay sent out an announcement today that this change begins April 15th. Can you let us know if the info will be available retroactively on the 90 day lookback report starting April 15th or will the info start appearing on orders dated April 15th and later? That part wasn't clear.

Effective April 15, 2020, Orders in Seller Hub will break out fees into line items to include Mattress Recycling and Electronics Waste Recycling fees, where applicable. The Orders Download report available in Seller Hub will also be updated with three additional columns:

- Electronic Waste Recycling Fee
- Mattress Recycling Fee
- Additional Fee*

You can find these new columns between the “eBay Collected Tax” and “Total Price” columns..

Lastly, the column title that was previously, “eBay Collected Tax Included in Total” will be updated to “eBay Collected Tax and Fees Included in Total” and accounts for the fee breakouts in the new columns.

Please ensure any programmatic feeds you may have built into order management software applications are updated to reflect these changes to ensure a seamless transition.

*More information about specific state taxes and fees can be found here:

eBay

Hi @coffeebean832, I will touch base with the appropriate team on this for more details and touch base with you, no problem!

Since someone mentioned drafts, I would like to bring up a question I asked a while back.
eBay saves drafts every few minutes, which means not only that drafts are kept of most of my listings, but several drafts may be kept of the same listing.
I request either (or both):
- only the latest draft be kept of a single listing
- when the item goes live, its draft(s) go away
Thanks.

Hi @vrykalak - we do work on auto-saving drafts you're working on, but we shouldn't be making a brand new draft every few minutes, if you're seeing that happen that sounds incorrect and like something that should be reported for review as a potential technical issue.

When you 'finish' a draft listing it should be removed from your list of drafts.

I also wanted to ask 2 questions about reporting

- are auctions where the price has been run up to gouging level considered price gouging?

- if we find listings for banned items, do we still use the price gouging reporting?  I could not find a better category.  I'm good at finding hand sanitizer and wipes with create spelling 😁

Sue

Hi @wooden_flower, auctions that escalate to an excessive price for certain high demand products would be considered price gouging violations and actioned appropriately. In addition to price gouging being unethical and an eBay policy violation, it is also illegal in most places. As such, we cannot allow auctions for certain items and would instruct a seller on how they can relist with a fixed price format where appropriate.

As for reporting, you would still use the price gouging selection as items we have prohibited from sale on the site are prohibited because of price gouging concerns. The teams reviewing these reports will take appropriate action and educate the seller accordingly.

It appears to me that Ebay has changed the process on refunding buyers when sales tax is part of the transaction.  I’m not sure when it changed.

It was that if I refunded a buyer in full, the sales tax was auto added to the refund that the buyer receives and Ebay of course took care of that sales tax portion.  It was also true that if I did a partial refund that the appropriate portion of the sales tax was auto added to the refund and Ebay again covered that portion.

But now it seems to have changed for partial refunds.  If we want to partially refund our buyer how are we going to get this to work right.  For example in the pic below.  I want to refund my buyer $45 out of the money they paid me for the product.  But if I put that in, as you can see, their total refund is $45 with the sales tax being part of the $45. It should be a refund of $45 PLUS sales tax.  In other words the buyer should be seeing a refund of $48.42 [45.00 + 3.42].

Hi @mam98031, it looks like you are doing a partial refund through PayPal (correct me if I'm wrong). This is the correct way partial refunds work through PayPay, which is that the seller will need to calculate the tax and include the appropriate amount of tax in the 'Total Refund Amount' field.

That's not how it works ... the TOTAL refund field is what Sellers type in ... if you change THAT amount the other two amounts will change ... plus it states eBay is refunding the tax NOT the Seller.  For myself the question  would be, If I type in $ 45.00 per @mam98031 's example WHAT will the Buyer see on their PayPal transaction?  The $ 41.58 from the Seller and then eBay sens ones for the $ 3.42?

I just think you misread my post.  I'm aware that the $45 [in this case] is the amount I put into the refund.  And that was the amount I wanted to refund the buyer from what they paid me for the product.  But the PP screen is lowering my refund amount by the amount of tax will go back to the buyer to be a refund by me of 41.58.

We've been on plenty of threads together.  I'm well aware that Ebay is refunding the taxes and not the seller.  My issue was that the refund should be $45 PLUS tax.  Not a flat $45.

Hi @mam98031 The 'Total Refund Amount' field if the total refund, including sales tax. If a seller issues a partial refund on PayPal, the seller will need to calculate the tax and include the appropriate amount of tax in the 'Total Refund Amount' field along with the amount the seller wants to refund.  For example, if sales tax was 10% on a $100 item and the seller wants to refund $50, they would need to put $55 in the 'Total Refund Amount' field to account sales tax + partial refund amount. This means the seller will cover the sales tax refund and immediately after the refund is issued a credit will be placed in the sellers PayPal account in the amount of the sales tax refunded.

With this in mind, it is best if a seller issues partial refunds on eBay whenever possible so they do not have to calculate the sales tax amount being given back to the buyer.

Greetings Tyler!

Yesterday, several sellers received "two" 200 free listings offers with the same offer # at the bottom of the offers, starting at 2 different times (3:15pm PDT & 5:41pm PDT.  Are these offers legitimate or glitches?  If sellers have activated & used these offers, will sellers be eventually charged for these "glitch" offers?

Thanks so much & be well...

Hi @bookollections, while I can understand how it might be confusing to receive two offers with the same terms, any promotion that is activated on the seller's account should apply appropriately. I'll be sure to have this reported to address any errors on our part for sending out multiple offers with the same terms, but any seller who successfully activates both offers and later runs into issues would be eligible for appropriate credits.

Hi @coffeebean832, I just wanted to update you that I did receive confirmation these fees would not be separated out retroactively, only on orders moving forward.
