I would suggest using the eBay schedule option to check out your listing. The scheduled listing is as close to a live listing as possible and you can check out the variations and pictures and the description as well as test shipping options by changing the zip code and country as needed.
You can schedule a listing up to 3 weeks in advance. Scheduling is free for non-stores and costs 10 cents for a store but is only charged if you let the scheduler start the listing. After checking the listing to make sure it is okay, then edit the listing to change from the scheduled time to Start Immediately. You can do this editing the listing individually or use the bulk editor if you have more than one listing scheduled.
You can also use the schedule trick to hold listings for later review. You can also use it to hold listing to start at a later time and manually change to Start Immediately at the time you want to start so as to avoid paying the schedule fee.
The schedule trick has been used by sellers for years to test listings and hold them before drafts were made available a couple of years ago. I prefer using the schedule trick to check listings rather than use drafts.
The only issue is forgetting that you have listings scheduled and eBay starts them. You will be charged a schedule fee and the listing may not be finished and a buyer buys the item in the listing making a possible SNAD. Once a listing is scheduled, you can reschedule the start time if you need to hold them longer as the scheduled date gets closer.
This schedule trick should be a useful workaround for you.
