Figure out why is easy:
Shopping product based does not work other than for sellers who ebay send the traffic to. Ebay may say different but for variable periods of time throughout the month I will have dead spots of up to 2 weeks at a time and the item view count will not change. The for a few short periods of time I get a ton of views and normal sales levels. During the same period of time, Bonanza BlueJay and my company site are just humming along as normal.
To counter this ebay sends emails like they are caring about your sales to "source this and sell on ebay" line of **bleep**. They want me to sell items like cell phones and tablets. I sell motorcycle parts. Don't know diddly about phones and tablets.
Second is that ebay shows other similar items on the buy pages with varying prices instead letting the buyers just complete the purchase of your item. Seeing as both items are similar or identical, the millennials living on their parents insurance in their parents basement using their parents money they buy the cheaper one.
That is a good start. With the economy as good as it is with good jobs and low unemployment then ebay should be humming along with sales. But they are sporadic at best.
As I have said before, if ebay is not restricting visibility and sales then they need to EXPLAIN why the there are these trends on their platform but nowhere else.

Who the heck IS Ebay?!?! WHERE are my customers? WHAT happened to my SALES? WHY has my business CRASHED!?!?! I have the highest amount of inventory I ever have had at THE LOWEST PRICING on Ebay. What's next....GIVE IT AWAY?!?!? I play the GAME as best as I can, I am a good Ebay doobie for over 15 years and REFUSE to allow my business to pattern Ebay's inncessant desire to be akin to Amazon. So WHY the HUGE PLUMMENT in my sales?!?!?! I called CS and was told they are have been experiencing "technical difficulties". I am experiencing FINANCIAL difficulties....WHAT are YOU going to do about THAT EBAY??? Will I be receiving a CREDIT for NOT recieving services in the condition as described?!??!

There are too many sellers on eBay, and eBay is not interested in more and more and more sellers onboard. They would much rather squeeze as many $ as possible from existing sellers who are willing to pay to play. Store subscriptions went up, shipping costs went up, certain listing features and upgrades incur fees, pay to promote your listings across the site and on the other sellers' listings. Selling fees are going up, if your defects are unusally high by eBay standards (I think the returns for INAD not as described, or defective items) they will be charging you higher FVF fees later this year.
eBay just wants existing willing sellers to pay more, rather than make more by bringing on ever more sellers. eBay knows there are already too many sellers on the site which is why people are now noticign listings are being suppressed more frequently or more obviously. It's happening to everyone. The only way to compete is to keep to lowest price possible and make sure your listings have correct category and product information entered.

I'm in the same boat! I have jumped through every hoop that they wanted and fixed all the missing pics that THEY deleted and now NO SALES!! This had better get fixed or I will have to jump ship!

Same here . Been a power seller for over a decade. Top rated saler since the beginning of that program. Normally, this time of the year I would be at about 12,000 - 13, 000 in sales. Below 6,000 now. HUGE difference. Store functions are not working. Sometimes when I click my store icon it says my store doesn't even exist. I've NEVER seen it this bad and I am not just talking sales!!

Swamp gas, will-o'-the-wisp, St. Elmo's fire, ball lightning, mass-self-hallucination... C'mon, we have historically low unemployement, booming economy, easily serviceable low debt, high volumes of eBay sales... It's ALL good: Happy days are here again!!!
(We conspiracy theorists are just wearing our tin-foil hats too tight.)
eBay says offer free shipping and free returns -- heck, just offer free-everything -- and all will be fine!!!
If only it were still the first day of the fourth month.
