I am having the same problem and cannot remove the "Unanswered message" flag even though I have answered the message. Would be nice to get a response from eBay as this is annoying. Not sure if true, but there are claims in the discussions that this flag affects your seller ratings. It this is the case, eBay needs to address the issue.

Try browsing this topic/thread and see if the suggestions apply to help either of you.

I have read many articles that the cassini search engine uses how quickly you respond to messages in it's best match algorithm. ( Google it for more info)
At one point it did show on the item listing main page with a message to the effect of " This user usually repsonds in x amount of time to questions"
So that does prove or at least give credence to the point that they are somehow, someway keeping track and using this info in best match.
Let's say I'm East coast, you're West coast. You ask a question before bed - I don't answer because I'm already sleeping. Then I go to day job in morning. Can't get you a proper answer until I return home. How is that fair to count that against me? Or worse yet you're overseas and then you don't get my reply until the next day - or when you log in again. Does that clock count against me too?
So yes again, leaving a question unanswered would look like a failure in your customer service.
If I can find one of the articles I will post a link for you.
IT is concerning.

Just searched for a solution to this very annoying problem myself and this is the "workaround":
1. From your Ebay Summary - click Sell/All Selling
2. You're now on "Selling overview"
3. Look to the upper right, on the upper right, just above your username, you'll see "Switch to classic view" - click the text.
4. Click "Switch" on the pop-up
5. You'll recognise the old format and the drop downs have the option to "Mark as answered" -use it at will.
6. Go back to the top of the page when you're done and click the "Switch to new selling overview" if you wish...or not!
I really like the new page, but want the mark as answered option back in please ebay!

Hi @dhbookds, can you provide me with a screenshot of what you are seeing? When I check the listings page in Seller Hub I see an option in the dropdown to Mark as answered. Happy to dig into this further if there is an issue!

@Anonymous I must be blind as can't see it........
If I click on respond, it takes me to, well, lol, where to respond.....and I don't see a cancel any there.
likewise the dropdown in center of the page has nothing.....

It looks like the "respond to question" text is too long for the column -- the
dropdown is likely just to the right of that. Can you change the width of the
column by dragging the divider in the header row between "Actions" and
"Photo" headings? That's how it works in excel. I'm not a seller or I would be
able to verify this myself. If you can't make the column wider, can you make
the text smaller using Zoom (Text Only) under the View heading of the Firefox
menu bar?

That's IT.............thanks so much.......expanding the column was the answer. I should have know there would be more options there........ Sure appreciate the help.......
