ebay has had this problem for over 4 months and they have no solution and now are saying this is a google problem although end users / sellers are being hosed.
Without getting too techy.
If you are using google chrome version 76 . I have Version 76.0.3809.132 (Official Build) (64-bit) AND are viewing an ebay item with a lengthy description you will only see a blacked out ebay description.
Find out your version:
Here are a few examples:
All of this users items have this problem:

https://www.ebay.com/usr/opimus

https://www.ebay.de/sch/scheich1/m.html?item=352761936346&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
there are millions of items affected by this problem and both ebay tech support and customer support are not fixing this issue.
Google chrome downgraded from 76.0 and or going to beta fixes the problem.
Here is google chrome beta. You will see that this browser does not have the same issues as 76.0.

Below are some links to this problem posted on the ebay community page just a week ago:

Here is ebays most recent solution, if you can call it that, to the problem
o Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome:
§ Press CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE to go directly to the Delete menu
o Android:
§ Open the browser, tap the Menu button, tap More, scroll down to the Privacy Settings, and tap Clear Cache/Clear all Cookie Data
o Safari for Mac:
§ Click the Safari menu on the upper left of the screen, click on Preferences, click the Privacy tab, and then click Remove All Website Data
o Safari for iPad/iPhone:
§ From the Home screen, choose Settings. Select Safari from the settings menu. Tap the Clear History and Website Data button near the bottom of the page
2. Use a different browser
3. Reboot the computer
4. Uninstall and install the browser
5. Use a different device

I use that version of Google Chrome and tried a few of those links and didn't have any problems seeing the descriptions.

The problem seemed to be with Chrome 76 being unable to display certain sized frames, which mainly appeared in eBay listings with a very long series of pictures in the description rather than the gallery. Some marginal listings might have been made visible by decreasing the zoom level of the page. Other browsers, including Chrome 75 and earlier versions, or Chrome 77-beta, did not seem to suffer from the same issue.
Here is one example of a listing that until recently for me had a description that rendered as a black rectangle in Chrome 76 at any zoom level:

I say until recently, because it seems to be rendering correctly for me now using Chrome version 76.0.3809.132.

So it's "fixed" now?
It seems to be working for me on this machine -- whether it works for everyone else remains to be seen. [How is that for hedging my bets?]
I'm getting the impression it was a Chrome issue, not an eBay issue? What do you think?
It certainly appeared to be a problem with the earlier Chrome version 76 to my untrained eye, since every other version up to 75 and 77b seemed to not have the issue. I suppose there is always a chance that the problem was caused by something eBay did, though, or even a third-party conflict, or a combination of those.
It is also possible that the seller of the listing I linked to changed something about the listing to break the frame into smaller chunks, in which case the problem may still exist for other listings. But nothing appears to have obviously changed about the listing, other than it correctly renders in the latest version of Chrome for me.
