Buyer purchased something.
buyer credit card charged.
Minutes after purchase buyer realized the purchase was made in error and submitted cancellation request.
minutes later buyer messages seller and requests the seller accept the cancellation.
seller acknowledges the buyers message and attempts to accept the cancellation.
nothing happens. Seller tries multiple times and still nothing.
eBay software should immediately ack the seller’s acceptance to cancel and provide feedback to the seller and the buyer as to when the cancellation will be complete.
if not fixed, the buyer and seller are left in the dark not knowing what’s going on despite the fact that they are both agreeing to the cancellation.

This platform has by far the worst IT dept. The entire site is full of glitches and technical issues, on a daily basis, every day of the week, 24/7.... "we're sorry, it's our fault not yours"....

If seller cancel the request...the seller will get a negative(sale) in available funds immediately of the cost of this item. Not sure how much seller has in available funds before cancel but anything cancel will come out of seller available funds. Transaction is usually pending when it is cancel. Seller needs to check his available funds.
Buyer will not usually get the refund right away from a credit card purchase.
If buyer purchase and seller cancel there is a processing time line...and there is no plus and minus of sale on the same day. Buyer will have to wait next week if this happened after 5 PM today. Usually buyer gets a refund in so many "business days"...Saturday and Sunday and Friday after 5PM are not business days.

This answer is good at explaining how the system works. But it is not acknowledging the way it should work. The way it should work is eBay software should immediately (1) acknowledge that the seller has accepted the cancellation on the backend (2) straight away email the seller and the buyer and confirm to both parties that eBay understands the buyer requested cancellation and the seller agrees to cancel and the cancellation process may take up to X number of business days
In this manner the buyer and seller are not left in the dark wondering if eBay understands the situation. This is how the platform should work but as of today it does not.
