eBay Search Feature is TOTALLY corrupted - NOT WORKING AT ALL

Ok, something is seriously wrong with eBay's search feature.  It does not produce any results whatsoever for the item.

I put in "Vtg silver heart plate" against "All categories" and the search returned about 900 pieces of jewelry, not even silver jewelry.

I then entered "stylized heart" against "All categories."   One single result came up which was not a heart.  See attached.

This failure to produce results is showing on the heels of the Advanced Search failing to carry over the stated request from a regular page search.

Is this what we have to look forward to now?  Is this a joke?  It is no wonder I've made just 1 sale in 3 weeks.  Nobody's searches are producing results that include my items.

Anyone else have this problem?

Totally unrelated search, but when I search"Scooby Doo Lot" (sometimes with words like Figure, Figurine, PVC), the results show all different types of figurine lots.  Its been going on for weeks.  I won't list if I don't know the value... and you also make a good point too about buyers not being able to see your listing anyway.  Urgh.

you  misspelled stylized in the search.........  looks like sylized.......they actually corrected it.........asking if you meant stylized heart of which there were 488 items.

The silver heart plate IS going to run into problems because of "silver plate" meaning the silver method.........as opposed to a silver plate in the shape of a heart which I assume you mean...

@teslastoybox

eBay's search has been having problems with inappropriate keyword substitutions for about a month. Possibly this is related to reorganizations of particular categories such as Books and Toys & Hobbies which seem to be central to many of the complaints.

If you are searching and you notice one of your terms is not appearing in your search results, you can try putting that individual search term in quotes:

"scooby-doo" lot

If you think there may be spelling variations of your search term, you can try adding an exclusion term to your search as an alternative method to prevent keyword substitutions:

scooby-doo lot -octopus

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=scooby-doo+lot+-octopus&_sacat=0&L...

Different buyers have different strategies for searching, and if one method does not work, many buyers will try other methods that produce better results. Other methods of searching may include using google to find eBay items, scanning entire categories, or finding a particular item of interest and then checking the seller's other items.

Sellers have every reason to be upset that eBay's search is not working the way it should be, and that eBay has not addressed this issue. Sellers should consider contacting eBay directly to bring this to their attention, since eBay does not actively monitor most of these discussion boards.

It's not only the general search that's borked. When a seller searches their OWN active listings 9 times out of 10 it won't even bring up listed items using a single keyword search.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Can you provide an example of the kind of search you are describing, and an item the search is missing?
