FAIL: How many MONTHS has it been now???
Entering a quantity on the "Shipping and Payments" tab and then clicking on "Get Rates" refreshes the page back to the "Description" tab, but leaves the entered quantity with the shipping cost for ONE piece on the "Shipping and Payments" tab when the buyer returns to that tab.
Probably for every potential buyer who's been asking me "how much is shipping for X pieces" there've been at least a dozen moving on to other listings offering "free" shipping, which results in them paying a higher price... Which of course is better for eBay all around; more commissions, more sellers forced to offer the "free shipping" gimmick. Even a bumbling fool of a lone programmer could have fixed this trivial bug by now, so why else hasn't it been fixed. Yet another...
eBay-FAIL!
(Yeah, like outta the toilet!)

This has been going on a lot longer, I think since May or June; I don't have time to search the forum right now. I remember a friend calling me about it a while back (he's just a buyer) since I'm the "local eBay expert" and that's how I was first aware of it. In a phone call I "complained" to eBay about it shortly thereafter.

In the past, if I put so-much-for-first-item in the first box and so-much-for-second-item in the second box, it would calculate correctly.
At some point I noticed this wasn't working correctly any more. Buyers were being overcharged, were getting grumpy, and I would have to refund via PayPal (and lose the selling commission on the portion that was refunded).
What I discovered after some experimentation, some months back, is that it became NECESSARY, rather than optional, to add the discounts into the shipping discounts list and CLICK THAT BOX for the correct amount for each additional item. After that, it works... most of the time.
It doesn't solve the whole problem, but it does help in some cases, if the seller is using the first-item, second-item method of calculating the shipping cost.

While multiple purchases have decreased due to the fewer links to sellers other items and store links being removed. The few multiple purchases I have had were all bought 1 at a time. A few of the buyers did message me later asking for combined shipping. While some of the purchases could have been made using the mobile app it is clear from this post that currently there may be no option for combined shipping at this time. Has anyone checked their site preferences to make sure the option has not been turned off. I checked mine and it looked OK sounds like they have yet another problem. The funny thing is that this problem works out in their favor. Since the buyers can not get items combined before paying they have to pay full price on the shipping up front. Then Ebay does make more from the final value fee charged to the seller for the shipping cost paid by the buyer. While most honest sellers issue a partial refund through paypal for the difference in shipping cost Ebay keeps the extra cash. Like some of their current problems this one is very fishy and leaves one questioning is it a error on their part or a cover up of a shady way to get more money off of each item sold on ebay.

Here's a post and thread about this issue from MAY 22, 2018:
It's now AUGUST SECOND and it's STILL NOT FIXED.
eBay-FAIL!

"In the past, if I put so-much-for-first-item in the first box and so-much-for-second-item in the second box..."
That's flat rate shipping. I'm using calculated rate shipping, and I have "add all item weights" set in the options.
Here's my thread about eBay's pedantically-moronic shipping calcualtor:
eBay-FAIL!

This may be the original thread from May - eBay stated they know of the problem in this thread - agree it is still broken as of August 2, 2018
Is there any way to mark this thread M263419 as NOT solved - cause it aint.
08-02-2018 04:24 PM
True, way longer though. First noticed it happened for a week back in December. Then is became almost constant after February.

There are multiple issues here.
Multiple topics being disscussed too.
OP is talking about a glitch for buyers and sellers to see estimated postage for multiple items from the listing screen on the shipping and payments tab.
WE have each posted multiple times about Ebay's failure to address That issue.
Yes, Still unresolved. Why we are here again.
It is related to the issue you are bringing up too
and it is also related to buyers not being able to request and invoice if a seller has items on sale or discounted etc. ( Seller already offers discount error)
IT IS ONE BIG MESS - how they do not see and IMMEDIATELY ADDRESS the issue is beyond me.
I doubt that they are leaving it that way to collect extra on the 2 FVF's though even though I do agree that they are getting extra when we refund shipping costs that the useless system is causing and when it is muliple items for multiple instances the pennies add up quickly!
It also creates an atmosphere where buyers perceive (and I have even been told by customers that customer service agents are blaming the seller for the issues) we are overcharging them on purpose or not allowing them to request an invoice. That is total BULL.
Here's an even better scenario. Offer a buy one get (blank) free sale. Has anyone had this not work for an International buyer. Has anyone had it work? It is the same thing going on with combined shipping for International orders - no matter what your settings are.
I think we just need to start seperate threads stating the glitch and then just have users "Vote" by using the helpful to show just how wipespread these issues are.
Maybe that might get someone's attention. It isn't just a few or small group of sellers affected by these glitches as someone once said.

Actually, all of the shipping calculator issues are likely related/intertwined. "Get Rates" on the Shipping and Payments tab most likely calls shipping calculator code to do its calculations; makes no sense to duplicate the code, although this IS eBay so any moronic dysfunctional/nonfunctional thing is possible. This is "evidenced" by the same miscalculated shipping rates being quoted when "Get Rates" used to work as those actually invoiced to buyers in eBay Checkout. I detailed the colossal moronity of how these rates are being miscalculated in my "hopelessly broken" thread.
That this stupid-code was even rolled out in the first place is HUGE black mark on ALL of eBay, and everyone responsible for its writing and rolling out, plus those responsible for it not yet being fixed, have thereby earned the requirement to become immediately unemployed. Meanwhile, eBay continues on investing its resources into making even more stuff "broken" in one way or another. ZERO responsibility and business accumen. It's beyond pathetic.

How long has this one, too been an issue and still NOT resolved?

AFAIK it hasn't even been ACKNOWLEDGED yet; I called in to tech support and asked about the status of all of the shipping calculator issues, and after a couple of minutes of searching the rep reported that there are no such open issues with the shipping calculator. I think at this point eBay has no intention of EVER addressing the issues because they want all sellers to offer "free shipping" on all listings.
FWIW, I'm working on getting my own website going and then I'll use eBay strictly for exposure via loss-leader listings and auction-liquidations, with of course "free shipping" offered... Because THAT is what eBay wants. AFAIC, after and with all of these long-unaddressed and long-unresolved tech issues, along with the stream of new issues, eBay is FINISHED.

On 8/13 Tyler did respond that Yes....both were known issues.
He Did not, however, answer my question though. Read my posted question there.
"Hi @toomstoys - the issue with the page reloading is a known tech problem and one that has been being worked on and hopefully corrected.
The quantity issue is something that is also known and still being worked on. I've gone through and gotten m
embers added who have not yet been included on the ticket.
Thanks for the tag! "

I agree with you that , at this point, they do hope we will just give up and make everything "free shipping". I won't.
I have never dealt with a Tech Resolution team that has such low service standards, such poor responses, poor follow-up, all around nonsensical responses, and just generally avoids and deflects all issues back at the users. At a former employer we had a Tech department we called "helpless services". And That was being kind.
This one goes far beyond that.
"hey, this is still broke"
let me give you a ticket
6 months later ........"hey this is still broke"
I'm sorry we can't fix that there is no ticket showing that the broken thing is broken
let me get you a ticket ......
