eBay Chat Bot Malfunctioning

Every time I type "agent" or "contact an agent" in the chat box I get an error message: Something went wrong. Please try again later. You can also get more info searching online help. However, if I refresh the page and reopen the chat to try again, it shows a different message: Sure, I can help connect you with an agent. Currently, you can: Have us call you.

 

I am unable to select the button "have us call you" and if I retype "agent" or "contact an agent" in the chat box, it comes back with the error message.  How in the heck are you supposed to resolve an issue like this?!ebay chat bot part 3.pngebay chat bot 9-15-2025.png

Please fix the automated assistant so that sellers can contact agents through chat or a phone call.  Numerous sellers are having issues that are being ignored.  We need your help.

That has been tried, as well as several other methods.  Unless it's been fixed in the last 48 hours, nothing has worked.  There are many pages that get you to the Help section.  There are also many different ways to report technical problems.  We haven't been able to get a response using any of those ways 😞

@phoenix-fire-jewelry  - wish I could help more. I don't have any issues getting the call back to work from any Help page.

The live chat doesn't always show, and I reported it recently (by live chat 🙃) while assisting deaf user, who must have that option to communicate. At the time the agent said there was a tech issue they were seeing with certain user accounts, but not all. I don't think it's connected to this however, as you all are not getting either option to activate?

That's funny.  I ended up getting 4 defects because all my listings got reset to $22.80, and there were 5 orders placed for $10,000 of items that clearly I could not fulfil.  After 2 hours of trying to get through to an agent during chat hours to ask how to appropriately cancel the orders (fulfilling them would bankrupt my company), chat hours closed and I had to cancel the orders (of course, eBay didn't offer an option for the cancellation that would even have them consider whether I deserved defects, and I wouldn't lie and say the customer requested cancellation).  When I appealed the defects (which on October 20 will downgrade my account from Top Rated Seller to Below Average, thus also destroying my eBay account right before Christmas), I was told there were no technical issues affecting sellers regarding the automated assistant.  They denied my appeal.  I appealed the denial and they sent me a link to upload the 10 screenshots proving the prices given to the buyers were not the actual prices for those items, and spent 4 hours trying to upload those screenshots.  eBay errored out my uploads on the 7th or 8th upload every single time.  Tried to report that issue as well (another technical issue preventing me from dealing with the technical issue that turned the other technical issue into 5 defects).  eBay denied the appeal of the appeal again as there were no technical issues.  So I'm off working on my website, because clearly I won't be selling much on eBay during Christmas or for the next 12 months (I run my business so tight that eBay sends payment to the bank for orders before I have to pay for the fulfillment/cost of goods through my warehouse, so just the financing needed for suddenly having all of my payments held for 30 days for being a "bad" seller would be enough to also bankrupt me after 25 years selling on eBay).  No matter how you look at it, unless eBay admits to just one of these technical issues, my business is dead in the water on October 20th.

 

And no, getting a call doesn't activate either, and when eBay finally offered email as an option (who knew!), that also errored out when I clicked send.

 

That's really nice of you to help the deaf user.  I have auditory dyslexia, so I avoid the phone option like the plague.  While I can't completely relate to the deaf user, I do have a clue as to what it is like to be given no option to communicate.  Kudos to you for being a compassionate neighbor 🙂

Sorry this has been such a hassle for you.

The only time I've been able to access the 3 CS options all once - call back, live chat & email - is early morning as soon  as they open (5:00 am PT). After that during the rest of the day it's random what pops up, although I don't get errored out either. I'm assuming you've tried different browsers, PC vs app, etc?

As for their CS email option, I tried that recently and it took about a week to get a response, and they didn't fully answer my question either. Not ideal.

 

If you use social media, you can contact their teams there for more help sorting this out if you want. I realize not everyone uses it, but the reps there are very experienced. Let me know if you want to be directed there.
