Every time I type "agent" or "contact an agent" in the chat box I get an error message: Something went wrong. Please try again later. You can also get more info searching online help. However, if I refresh the page and reopen the chat to try again, it shows a different message: Sure, I can help connect you with an agent. Currently, you can: Have us call you.
I am unable to select the button "have us call you" and if I retype "agent" or "contact an agent" in the chat box, it comes back with the error message. How in the heck are you supposed to resolve an issue like this?!

You may be better off asking your question here to get suggestions from experienced users.
If nothing else works, try this link to request a call back:
https://www.ebay.com/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid
If you are unable to get a call back, that may be for several reasons; a location outside of North America, VOIP phone, and call blockers (personal or that of a service provider) are often issues.
Try contacting eBay via social media direct message:

I have been having the exact same problem, no matter whether I wait `10x the expected time or 4 hours. I am trying to get an agent to connect by chat. I've been getting this error for the last two weeks, every single day, often multiple times. Not once have I been connected successfully.
I have reported this technical problem three times, then included it in the technical problem posted here (I've been experiencing the chat/autobot problem while trying to get help with a different technical problem). Not one single response from eBay that they are looking into the problem.
Very frustrating, and not like the eBay I am used to.

Does eBay actually look at this thread that they created regarding technical problems? More than one seller is having these issues.
I don't use social media because it crashes my fairly new computer. I can play complex games, but using facebook, etc, crashes my computer. And yes, I know about cleaning caches, etc. That stuff gets done daily. How do we contact eBay directly? Or will they read this section of the community, which they created?
I don't need help from experienced eBay sellers, per se. I need eBay to directly know they are having technical difficulties and we want them to fix the problems. Experienced sellers are great, but can't actually check the coding or troubleshoot the website.

If someone from eBay is reading, they are not responding here.
If you want to report an issue to eBay use one of the "Tell us what you think" links on most My eBay pages or use the "?" link in the lower right, or if you are using the eBay app, shake your device while the app is active. Or contact eBay via social media direct message.

Then why bother creating false hope that eBay will actually check into technical problems?
I use a PC to run my business, not a phone or eBay app. I don't use social media, like I already told you, because it crashes my fairly new PC. I have used every means possible to report technical problems, so my faith in chasing them down on a site where it takes 5 minutes for each page to load is zilch. Maybe I'm just completely losing faith in eBay. The technical issues keep multiplying, and they are negatively impacting my business.

Were they all Apple devices? iOS or MacOS?

I am having these problems on a Windows 11 PC, so it isn't restricted to Apple devises. Are you collecting this data to communicate with eBay? I hope so!

Are you collecting this data to communicate with eBay?
I don't have any special connection to eBay, I am just hoping to get enough info from folks experiencing this issue to figure out what is going on or how to work around it.

Hi eburtonlab,
As this seems to be an actual eBay website/coding issue, this will take eBay to solve. Multiple other threads in the community are reporting this problem, which, of course, is harder to communicate with eBay when it is the automated Assistant gatekeeper to agents is failing to connect us with agents.
Just tagging you three as the automated assistant is blocking the reporting of this technical issue.

The automated assistant and connecting with an agent isn't working and hasn't worked for weeks. Therefore all efforts to report this technical error have failed (all available means have been attempted to report this technical error). The automated assistant has to be working and connecting sellers with agents in order to have a conversation about the issue, which of course the automated assistant is preventing. Multiple sellers have reported this issue.
Please respond ASAP with the status on getting this fixed. We are reporting this in the Community section eBay started to facilitate the reporting of technical errors. Please respond.

Have you tried to request a callback from your Manage Drafts page - click on the "?" at the bottom right corner to open the Help box - there's usually an option there to "have us call you" that works.
