The wrong tax rate is being charged. How do I get it corrected?
Current bid shows 8.68%.
It should be 4.5%

Are you referring to a purchase you made? What state are you having the item being shipped to?

It's for the tax reported in the total price when I submitted a lower price to be considered.

You are bidding on an item, the tax rate shown is 8.68% which would be wrong for your state for that item and it should be 4.5%?
Good chance what is going on is the item you are bidding on is listed in the wrong category or subcategory so are being charged the higher rate.
If you are talking about expecting a lower rate when submitting a best offer, not sure how you would expect that? If the tax rate at your location is 8.68% paid on the item + shipping, then that is not going to change just because you made an offer.

What should the sales tax be for your location for that particular item?
When/if you make an offer, and it's less than the starting price in the listing, if your offer is accepted, your bill will reflect the sales tax on the amount of your offer. For instance (for easy math), if the current price is $100 and the sales tax rate in your location is 10%, your tax on that purchase would be $10, but, if you offer $80 and your offer is accepted the tax you will pay will be $8. That's without taking into consideration the shipping cost which, in most states, will also be taxed.

Sounds like 4.5% is the State Tax Rate, but there is also local tax. Are you in Hawaii?

Is it equal to 4.5% of the original price, not the offer price @stormindy ?
What about shipping - does your state tax shipping and are you factoring that in?

The answer is to phone eBay to correct it, which they are doing for me.
