Why can't we send an invoice for more than 40 items? I can only send a second invoice for the rest of the items after the buyer has paid for the first invoice.

It's not just you. It's been that way for everyone as long as I can remember.
Why? I guess ebay doesn't think it's worth changing it.

I have the same issues. In the past, if a buyer bought say 60 items you could make an invoice for 40 and then an invoice for the remaining 20 so that you would in effect have two invoices. For weeks now you can't invoice anything over 40 items or over multiples of 40 items. EG: a buyer buys 60 items and you can make an invoice of 40 but you can't combine the remaining 20. Should a buyer buy 90 items you can invoice the first 40 and then the second 40 but not the remaining 10 items. This also only works if the items were bought on the same day. If you try this with purchases made over several days it will not work and if you try ebay will uncombine those invoices you already have made. This is a basic explanation, it's more complicated than that. I have mentioned this already a few times here but I assume that there are not that much sellers who have buyers buy more than 40 items so ebay pays no attention. I work around this by making a first invoice, then indicate it as paid, then invoice the remainder and finally change the first invoice to unpaid again. But it takes a lot of work and follow up, I have buyers with hundreds of items so you can imagine. This is only one of the current glitches, just trying to get to see your list of awaiting payments takes refreshing your screen 20 times as you always get an error message.
