What is wrong with eBay programmers? A Third grader could do better. POST YOURS HERE.

As a retired IT Mgr/33 years of one of the largest companies in the world, I cannot believe the continued site issues for sellers and buyers here. What are two of todays' site problems that I continue to encounter? #1. I cannot answer a question via anything when posted. I have tried all 3 ways that I know of. This was reported to eBay 2 weeks ago. #2. I just ended an active listing for a specific reason and now cannot get the ENDED LISTING tab to work to find the ended item and relist it.  It just sits there playing dead. EBAY! If you are listening and I know you have CS staff that monitor this forum as they told me they do, get with it and fire some of the people that are failing to perform their IT jobs. You continue to raise the bars, the fees, etc. and yet you fail to at least maintain the site so it functions properly. Stepping off the podium but I encourage others to post here with their site problems and shortfalls.  Thanks and have a good day! And YES I have clear cache and tried different browsers and OS.

I have tried to think of some thing to explain away your experiences and the issues that might justify the tech team at eBay - but nah - I got nothin' - the place is a mess

I understand your frustration, but no one at eBay is going to care if we rant on this thread.  Maybe bombarding them on the tech forum?

The rumour in the IT world is, if you can't get a job coding for anybody else, eBay will hire you.  Not the 'best people' - they hadn't even heard of Hadoop and H-base when it was time to develop Cassini (this was admitted actually by the CTO at the time - who was bounced when Cassini's roll out was a failure).  Dunno what to say - I was a humble editor in my corp life and even *I* had heard of distributed computing and big data (and Hadoop).

Part of it, I suspect, is the lack of documentation in the legacy coding - Meg Whitman used to brag that they 'coded on the fly' and never documented much.  They aren't even able to carry over knowledge from previous iterations of everyday functions (like the shipping page, which they had to recreate because they admitted there was no one who knew how to 'fix it.')

The site has had so many issues this week, I'm not even calling them anymore. I'm just tired of it. Telling potential buyers I do not ship to their location when I do. Bulk upload not showing any detailed information yet will still upload. "It's not you, it's us" and so so so many more problems this week and my sales are suffering. So tired of it.

You said you tried different browsers to rule out browser issues. Try using a different link on a different page to get around a broken link. Switch between mobile and desktop. Some users seem to be having problems replying to messages, where the reply link opens a link to the message inbox or a generic menu page. Try going to the user's feedback or profile page and composing a new message using the "Contact" link there. If that does not work, try going to ebay.ca. Or try the eBay app to answer questions. If you have your messages sent to your email address, try replying to the email rather than the eBay message.

Yes, you should not have to try all that to get around eBay's site issues, but if you are willing to try a few things you may be able to avoid a roadblock that prevents you from sending an important message.

Which selling page are you using? Try another link to a different selling page to see if that works better.

If eBay was more proactive about fixing problems, these sorts of workarounds would not be necessary. But sometimes getting things done is more important than waiting for someone else to fix things.

This was originally on a different board - it was moved to the appropriate board by the mods, so hopefully it will do some good!
