What happened to ebay...everything looks horrible & impossible to us

Was there an update? Is there a way to use the old format?

I buy lots from china, some taking months to arrive, and all of it is gone, no tracking numbers and on auction pages you can view descriptions. I used top be able to click on "view desktop site" but its not working.

I have over 585 items listed as purchased, its much higher then that, but of thid is the new format, i am done with ebay... the wish app and amazon are much better then this. Please tell me there there is a way to see the old format. Help

Yes, they rolled out updates in early February and it appears more in the past few days.  Many of them are resulting in high levels of Technical Issues (Errors, Loss of Functionality, Loss of Data, Unable to View Photos, Sellers Stores Disappearing, etc. etc.).

The most recent issue now, is that many customers can't even access the eBay site (including me).  I used a work-around that most users would not know.

Go to your Purchase History.  You will see each item you bought.  On the top left of each item, there is an estimated delivery timeframe.  On the far right, there is a blue bar that says TRACK SHIPMENT.  If you click on this, you will see the old tracking form that you are used to.

In the middle, there is a line graph that says PAID SHIPPED DELIVERED.  As this progresses, the dots are filled in.  HOWEVER, the SHIPPED will show when the seller prints the label, and the tracking will show you that the item has NOT shipped yet.

There have been high levels of technical issues the last few weeks, before these changes were even rolled out and they have been continuing to some extent.

Many error messages, it's not you, it's us.  Try again.  Etc.

Two things of concern:  the Ebay Watch Page doesn't display starting bid prices, it only displays the BIN price.  This is causing people to not bid on items they wanted as they think it is too high.  When they go back to check, they find that the item went off with one bid, much cheaper.  This is causing buyers to miss out on purchases, and sellers to miss out on sales, not to mention Ebay losing out on FVFs.

Another thing:  When you click on an ended listing, you are taken to a new page that has the old listing at the top saying, this listing has ended, with a link to view the ended listing.  Underneath this an active listing for something similar by another seller is shown.  BUT if you click on the ended listing, often the listing is active because the seller has relisted it.  The active listing should be shown because that is what the buyer was looking for.  They may have missed it but went back to their Watch List to find it.  The buyer doesn't know to check the ended listing to see if it is relisted, doesn't want the similar item, so a sale is lost here as well.

I haven't seen either of these issues yet, but I haven't been searching, saving or buying much of anything lately (just a couple of items from two Sellers I really like).  I'll check for both of these issues tomorrow and during the week.  I agree fully that for the 2nd concern, if the item is relisted it should link you to the relisted item.  Maybe the new items being shown are tied to an algorithm that matches items from high volume sellers?

I used top be able to click on "view desktop site" but its not working.

It sounds like you are on a phone or tablet (ios or android?) and your browser (which kind?) is defaulting to the mobile site version.

On my android phone I can still use the desktop version of the site using Chrome (I have not tried other browsers at the moment). It's possible that eBay has made a change or a browser update has reset something, so the first thing to try is to open a browser tab, go to ebay.com and then request the desktop site and proceed from there.

If that doesn't work, post again and mention your operating system and browser type and someone should be able to figure out what is going on.

That's good.  I noticed the BIN price showing on the Watch List recently, started a thread, and posters said it appeared around November of 2018, but I checked threads and found out it went back to August.  It may be working as intended as it could yield higher FVFs just showing the BIN, but what is happening is people are passing the listing by, then checking and finding it went for far less, and they don't like it at all.  Showing both the starting bid, and the BIN, lets the buyer make a choice.  Of course if a bid is placed, unless the listing has a "sticky" BIN, the BIN will disappear.

Directing a buyer who looks for an ended listing to buy it, to a different active listing, loses sales because the ended listing may have been relisted but the buyer isn't shown that.  They have to click on the ended listing to see that, and many don't know to do that.

I love Ebay and have been here for almost twenty years.  I want everyone to succeed, Ebay, buyers, and sellers.  I almost never say anything negative as there are more than enough who do, and I try to remain positive, but I am also a realist and see things, so I hope you understand where I am coming from.  I'm trying to gently bring forth some issues in hopes for the good of all, just as you are.

All the best!

Not only did they roll out updates with out checking their work first but did it on Friday evening after their support staff had left leaving just the outsourced call center to take calls and refuse to report issues as they have no idea how ebay works as they never use it to buy or sell. This is getting to be a classic incompetent move on their part lmao.

The good news is Monday morning so the at ebays will be getting to work deleting post with negative comments and reports of problems will go away and all will be fine. After all if you delete the post then there are no reports of problems and the constant status of no errors will appear true again.

On each page there is a "Tell Us What You Think" in the upper right. Click on it and let them know how you feel. or
