Unable to remove item from Watch list

I was cleaning up my watch list today, which just consisted of removing 2 watched items. The first one was removed fine, but I can't remove the 2nd.  Instead, when I try to remove it, it's becomes greyed out from my list and I get this message .

I've never looked at a book like this, or sold any books. 🤔
When I refresh the page, the item I was trying to remove is back. If I try to remove it again, I get the same congratulatory message.

Unable to remove item from Watch list

Others have encountered that same odd message before -- it appears to have been hard coded into eBay's software somewhere, and pops up from time to time. You have not listed anything, the message is just a mistake.

There are multiple ways to delete items from a Watch List -- try another method. You may have better luck with another link, another browser, or else using the eBay app.

You should be able to delete most items from the item page directly.

If an item is out of stock, you can still delete it directly from the Watch List.

If you are using a desktop browser, go to your Watch List or Summary page, select the checkbox to the left of the item on the list, and then use the delete button at the top of the page.

If you are using the eBay app, from Watching, hit the "edit" menu to reveal checkboxes, select the box by the item, then tap the trash icon at the top of the page.

Unable to remove item from Watch list

Or the OP could just ignore it and it will eventually disappear.

What would be the negative consequences of that action?

Unable to remove item from Watch list

The item will continue to take up a slot (out of 400) on the Watch List as long as it remains listed. If the item is a multiple quantity GTC listing, it could potentially remain indefinitely.

How annoying that might be depends upon how many items are already on the list. Some users may like to keep the Watch List organized in a particular way, and having unnecessary items on the list makes the list less useful than it otherwise could be.

Previously there were additional pages like the All Lists page or the All Buying page that had alternative means to remove items from the Watch List that could not otherwise be removed; but unfortunately those pages no longer work, and some items get stuck for extended periods.

Oh lol. I forgot about this.

The method of trying to delete it using the checkbox, surprisingly didn't work. I had tried it before posting this, and it just results in an error.

I used the eBay app and it worked fine.
