Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

Incredibly, this problem is back once again. I can’t login and conduct business. Neither the desktop nor the app will allow me to login. This has happened repeatedly for years with this “oops that’s not a match” message.

Re: Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

I get that " oops that's not a match" every once in a while. I just ignore it continue with the log in process. Without further issues.
It seems to be related mostly to MS Edge browser. I don't get that with Firefox.

Can you sign in if you reset your password?

If you are unable to sign in using any browser or the app, and you get that error message despite using the latest version of the eBay app, you should at least consider the possibility that your account has been hacked and your password has actually been changed.

There’s no option to reset the password as it doesn’t recognize the account at all.

If you get a "We couldn't find this eBay account" message after entering your username when signing in, check to make sure your keyboard is working and you are entering the correct account name. Try using your email address for that account instead of the username to sign in.

There is no way to continue with the process. I’m using Firefox.

Try a private or incognito browser window, or another browser, preferably the latest version of a popular browser with default settings and no add-ons installed.

Try using another link to sign in:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

https://signin.ebay.com/signin

If you are using a VPN or hotspot, skip those and use a different network connection. If you are using privacy software like Ghostery or Disconnect, temporarily disable it.

If you have previously linked your eBay account to a social media account, try signing in that way.

If you are able to sign in via the community pages to post here using that account, try going from here to your account through the link to your My eBay page under your icon in the upper right of this page.

Re: Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

I know I'm replying late, but this still applies.

In Australia, I currently can't log in to ebay.com.au using either Firefox or Mypal 68.13.

I can, however, log in to ebay.com and ebay.co.uk.

@bennyfx50

I can, however, log in to ebay.com and ebay.co.uk.

Try an alternative sign-in link to rule out a bad link, particularly if you are using bookmark to sign in to ebay.com.au.

https://signin.ebay.com.au/signin

If that does not help, try using the latest version of a new browser you have not used before such as Brave or Opera, with default settings and no add-ons installed to see if that allows you to sign in to ebay.com.au.

If it does, that may indicate that in Firefox or MyPal something in your settings or add-ons are blocking some feature on ebay.com.au which prevents you from getting through verification. An ad blocker or a script blocker might cause such an issue under certain circumstances.

Re: Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

Thanks for that. I had concluded that it was the captcha (lions and pandas) that was blocking me out. The Australian site would ask for my user name, then I get the captcha, then I am supposed to be asked for my password. I was being blocked after the captcha, which the UK and US sites were not presenting.

In all my computers (Vista and Win7), I have a link to ebay.com.au on the desktop and also in the Start Menu. I usually do my ebaying and YouTubing on either of my Win7 PCs using FireFox with an adblocker.

I opened your reply in my email PC (Vista) using MyPal 68.13 and the same adblocker; your link bypassed the captcha and I was able to log in. I then pasted your link into a Word 2000 doc and saved it into one of my NASes. Then on my main websurfing PC (Win7) I clicked on the link in the doc and it presented the captcha before asking for my user name—this is backwards to how it usually happens. With this combination, I was not blocked from ebay.com.au. I then closed everything in the Win7 PC, cleared the various caches, restarted the computer and clicked on the link again. This time, I created a new link on my desktop at the point of the captcha screen. This link was called “Security measure” so I renamed it “ebay 2” and assigned it the icon that I created from the ebay logo many years ago. Then I cleared the caches again, restarted the computer, and the new link allows me in every time. This new link is my new entry point and it works in all my Win7 and Vista computers.

Thank You.

Re: Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

Excellent! You are very welcome.

Thank you for following up and explaining what you did and what worked!

The alternative sign in link is what I got from ebay.com.au, going to the sign in page and choosing the "create an account" link, and then on the account creation page, choosing "Already have an account? Sign in".

Re: Unable to login “oops that’s not a match”

I've had this problem today "Oops, that's not a match."  I was trying to log into ebay.com.au, so I tried ebay.com and that worked.  How weird because I've used ebay.com.au many times.
