Unable to file an appeal due to details invalid.

Hello, I am trying to start/submit an appeal from the view case webpage on ebay. On the file an appeal page it has a text box at the bottom and a place to upload images, No matter what I do the text box keeps red lining around it with an red exclamation mark at bottom of it and a top message on the page saying details invalid with a red exclamation mark on the left of the message. 

I did copy and paste the message, re wrote the whole thing as well and neither worked. 

The message is 670/1000 characters long, no special punctuation has been added. I am only using ( . ? , ' - ) as well as numbers and letter. I am using Google Chrome and tried Microsoft Edge as well, both gave the same error.

I am having the same problem in response to a bogus "violation." Now I can't even appeal an obviously false accusation?

I am also having this problem.  No links, phone numbers, etc.  Just text message.  Detail Invalid, but doesn't specify why.

Edit: I kept browsing other posts and found a solution posted by aa-2138 on this post: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Buying/I-can-t-get-past-the-message-additional-details-invalid-where-I....

They said to remove the parenthesis from the content of your message. Once I did that, I was able to submit without any issues. Thanks, aa-2138!

I was having this problem.  Rewrote my draft several times and still got that message. 

After some research I learned you can't include apostrophes anywhere.

So can't needs to be cannot and I've has to be I have etc. 

Once removed it sent.

Confirmed. I removed the parentheses, and was able to submit my appeal.

thanks for the tip. it helped a lot -- removed parenthesis and I found even apostrophes from words like "I've" -- instead I said "I" ... and then was able to get it submitted after removing both types.

Hey Ebay!  Hello from 2025.  After reading the below suggestions to remove all apostrophes, I've done that and it submitted.  

This post was made 6 MONTHS ago and it's still not fixed. There's no reason an appeal shouldn't recognize standard language use.  Oh **bleep** just fix it.

The issue is not just limited to parentheses and apostrophes, I ran into this when attempting to submit a VERO appeal to include a link to the exact items offered in other Ebay listings, I had to remove the link and reference the Ebay item number before it worked.
