I tried to list a doll this morning, and, while researching comparisons, I noticed that the total items shown didn't match the total search results. It showed there were 6 results, but only 1 was shown:
I thought maybe it was a "clear your cache", etc. issue, so I did all that and got the same result. Then I tried searching from a private window, where the same search yielded accurate results. Incidentally, I had several items to list and this happened with every item I searched, so it wasn't a one-off.
Another member posted here about how ad blockers are preventing promoted listings from appearing in search, and the results were accurate after I disabled AdBlock.
However, all my listings are promoted, I've used chrome with AdBlock as an extension for years, I research comps routinely, and sponsored listings have never been "hidden" like this, nor have the number of results been noticeably different from the number of listings shown.
I don't know if this is a change with AdBlock and/or chrome and/or eBay, but I do know that my sales have been down dramatically for about 2 months. I've previously accepted this fate as just part of the business, but if promoted items aren't appearing in searches for people who use ad blockers (literally everyone I know), it's safe to say that's going to affect sales.
This certainly seems like an issue that eBay needs to address immediately, especially with the constant emphasis on promoted listings. Sales for everyone using promoted listings are being lost every single second.

Exact same results I got. And this is happening with ALL my 550+ listings - none are visible in search by anyone using an ad blocker. See the results that I did when I tested this extensively today, this issue is definitely not isolated to sponsored listings - at this point, I'd say it isn't even related.

If all other sellers sales have drop, as much as mine have dropped, ebay has to be losing A LOT of money.

YES! It most certainly is! Thank you! My sales have literally been down 60-80% every single day for 2 months!

Thanks @popblox - agree it's not isolated to sponsored listings (from what we can see) but I think it's still possibly somewhat related in that the adblocker seems to *think* what it's blocking are sponsored/promoted listings.
So I would guess either something changed in the filters being used by the adblocker that is identifying them as ads in error or something changed on the eBay side (possibly not visible to us just looking at it) that is making the adblocker think they are ads.

eBay has been putting a lot of effort into Promoted Ads these last couple months. A lot of updates. AdBlockers have been around for a long time. And everyone of them has different coding. If I had to guess, ebay did something to trigger these ad blockers with a promoted listings update.

Yes, and I believe it's happened within the last 2 months.
I have no idea if this is relevant, but I do want to add that I started a new business about 35 days ago and have listed 20 items (all promoted) on another eBay account. All of those listings are visible in search results, regardless of whether an ad blocker is active.

I searched lol winter vrqt and these are the results:
Safari with Ad Block Plus:
6 results
6 unique displayed, 8 total displayed
2 were shown twice, once organic and once promoted
Firefox with Ad Block Plus:
4 results
1 displayed
Chrome with Ad Block Plus:
4 results
7 displayed
3 were sponsored, none were duplicate from organic results
Edit: my Ad Block Plus settings allow non-invasive ads on all browsers.

Since I haven't seen nor heard well, anything, from eBay as of yet they are either not aware/crying and breaking down over the situation, but as (most) realize eBay also likes to take their time on fixes, would it not be faster to possibly get in contact with the AdBlock devs in the meantime? That way they could change the filters on their end (and would probably beat eBay to the punch).

Do people ever notice all the ads at the bottom of the search page? Store ads pushing buyers into other stores that have no store on here. This place is broken.

@wastingtime101 that's interesting - so much for this part of the Promoted Listings FAQ.
Can the same promoted listing appear in more than one placement on the same set of search results?
No. An individual listing will only appear once in the same set of search results. If your listing is promoted, it will either appear as a promoted listing or an organic listing.
It's also interesting that the change to supposedly only show it once came in 2019, I believe around the same time/in reaction to many people also having issues with ad blockers blocking their listings.

What incentive do Adblock developers have to pay programmers to work solely to fix ebay? None.
AdBlock works by searching a webpage's source code for words like “Ad” “Sponsored” “Commercial” and hiding the full HTML element so the ad isn’t shown. Right click on Chrome and click Inspect. Type CTRL+F and search for a few ad keywords like I mentioned above. You’ll see that adblocks aren’t very complex. They’d have to whitelist the whole ebay domain for a simple fix. To block ads but ignore listings, it would take much more time, and again, they get nothing in return for doing it.

No. An individual listing will only appear once in the same set of search results. If your listing is promoted, it will either appear as a promoted listing or an organic listing.
I didn't realize that this was in the FAQ, but it's been this way as long as I can remember and it changes based on how you sort results:
*If sorted by best match, sponsored listings will appear at the top as "Sponsored", then again organically within the results.
*If sorted by any other method, sponsored listings appear organically within the results, then again at the bottom of the page as "Sponsored".
Here is my search from earlier, except now my listing is promoted (ad blocker disabled):
I've always found this irritating because if a buyer searches for an item and you have the only one, your item will appear twice. There's a 50/50 chance they'll click on the sponsored link and, of course, you'll pay an ad fee.

So, with the exception of Firefox, your search results were mostly accurate. However, I also allow non-invasive ads on my AdBlock, but I don't have AdBlock Plus - that's the paid service, correct?

How have your impressions and views been effected these last two months?
Personally, mine have both dropped about 20% in March. And another 20% in April, so 40% since January/February.
