The Crazy ANTICS of the Community Bell !!! What is going on???

What is up with the Community Bell today.  Things just don't seem to improve in the Community, just new issues day by day.

 

The bell as many are aware is so inaccurate as it misses so much.  It is a good overview, but you can't depend on it to capture all the threads you might be following.  It misses so much, not just something occasional.  It is frequently inaccurate.  

 

Then last week or maybe it was the week before this error message started showing up when trying to view the bell.  After a few times refreshing the screen, the list will come back into view.  But it throws this error quite frequently.  I've had it a few times already today.

Now there is a new error message.  So far I've refreshed countless times and I can't seem to get past it.

I was finally able to get into the bell, but it took awhile.

 

I'm confident all the problems of the errors and mishaps in programing for the Community is being worked on.  But really how much more of this is really to come.  We are over SIX MONTHS into many of the issues in the Community and all we are ever told is it is being worked on.  

 

I'm confident you guys are just as tired of saying that as we are of hearing that.  But really SIX MONTHS.  When are we going to get a reality check and some straight forward communications from Ebay to tell us what the heck is REALLY going on and why it has been so difficult to fix the issues of the Community???

Another issue is that of signing in to the Community.   I read on one of the posts a few days ago that Lithium had investigated the problem and determined that it is an ebay issue, not a Lithium issue.   Given that, the pessimist in me thinks that ebay may never fix the problem.   Wasn't it John Donohoe that said that the Community posts were just noise?

Had that yellow banner a few times in the past couple of days, but after hitting the "view all"  4-5 times I could get past it.

 

No issue today.

OMG I sure wish people could let what JD said go.  It was almost well over a DECADE ago and he hasn't been part of Ebay for years.

 

As to the other items about the community, yes that is an issue as well.  Not 6 months old, but a problem nonetheless.

 

The issues with the bell being accurate and the lack of the ability to get email notifications for updates to threads one might be following are over six months old.  And I'm sure others will post on other issues still happening on the threads like the Flooding issues.

@mam98031 Khoros is doing a lot of work to fix issues with notifications because it's happening on a lot of other Khoros communities as well, not just on the eBay community. I don't know the status of this fix, only that it's a high priority and a big project.

Thank you.  While the error messages I showed in this thread are newer issues, the balance are not.  And some are over six months old.  That seems like an awfully long time to fix stuff.  At some point it just becomes part of what we must deal with and likely not a real priority anymore as something deemed even more important has replaced it on the list of things to do.  

 

While I'm no programmer, just a user.  I personally find six months a ridiculous amount of time for this.
