So I was looking for a certain Barbie and E-Bay returned "streamlined search results". Normally, this Barbie costs $20 shipped. And indeed there are a dozen of them on E-Bay around the $20 (shipping included) price point.
The CHEAPEST result that streamlined search results gave me was $250! With prices as high as $450!!!
I don't know why people make these stupid listings that will never sell, but I guess E-Bay has now decided to promote stupid listings that will never sell, BY HIDING LISTINGS PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY!
If you click on see more results, you get the $20 ones. E-Bay wonders why its sales are tanking, and stupid functions like this are why! Show the buyer the cheapest results, with maybe a sponsored listing or two sprinkled in. But don't hide all the $20 listings and only show $250 listings. Sales will only go down!
Barbie 15646 is what I searched.
You have one job E-Bay. Fix your crap!

Absolutely agree! I am sick and tired of getting "streamlined" listings and half the stuff you want is missing. Ebay - STOP DOING IT!!

I just noted this annoying thing popping up all the time. "Stock news" notes a recent sharp decline in eBay stock price, and explains it as an 8% decline in sales or listing (I forget which), in the recent quarter, of cheaper items. Something came out a while back about eBay trying to attract increased price point items. One analyst gives a thumbs up to the decline stating that eBay will earn more money in the long run. I put a dozen items on this past winter, and what a pain it was, filled with worry and hassle. People have been saying for a while to try something else like Etsy and I very well might do that. EBay could care less; it is not the "marketplace" it once was. The methods they have been utilizing to eek out increasing profits has cut off 8% of their sales. For most business, that a huge number. Businesses want to increase their stock price to reward themselves when they sell their stock bonuses. I think they've pushed eBay about as far as it can go. Stay tuned.

Circling back, E-Bay may have changed something with the streamlining process. When I search for the same term, I do get streamlined results still, but they are full of $20 items, not the nonsense $250 listings.

No they have not.

I agree that the “ streamlining” of a search is a nuisance. Please list everything in the search—don’t choose for me!
